NEXT SEASON
Where do you think we will (realistically) finish? :
| Playoffs | 42 % |
|
| Top 3 | 29 % |
|
| 4 to 8 | 23 % |
OTHERS: "2 to 11", 10th
YOUR COMMENTS:
Automatic spot at best/play-offs at worst.
In top 6, otherwise the season is a failure 1st – depending on TB’s summer signings. If we cover for damo, fill LB adequately (either from within or with a signing) and hold on to/replace euell, we’ll be there or there abouts (barring injuries/mass exodus/major offield disruption) (major offield disruption? You can say that again)
I'll be disappointed if we'ne not in the play-offs
Will you get/renew a Season Ticket? :
| Yes | 74 % |
|
| No | 26 % |
YOUR COMMENTS:
Yes, but the wife doesn’t want me to!
No - Can’t afford it.
Renewing membership, hopefully my university education should lead to employment leading to improved funds for season ticket for 2002/03. I am aware I may be labled as a glory hunter if we do go up and I get a ST. However 25 games on a student budget last season suggests otherwise. End of rant.
I may be unemployed, so no, not this season.
Will think about it when WFC finally write to me!
Will be getting a season ticket for the first time :-) - hopefully not for the one and only time :(
Not until we move from Shithurst Yes (possibly the last one until we go home/away from that place)
It's heartening to see the amount of renewals despite the shit dumped upon us this close season. With luck, most people will keep their ST and cause a rumpus.
Do you think our general away turnout will improve? :
| No | 48 % |
|
| Yes | 39 % |
|
| Stay the same | 10 % |
OTHERS: Depends
YOUR COMMENTS:
Yes - but only slightly if more people could be introduced to SW19 and
W&WW, then no problem
Yep. It’s getting better and better I don’t see why it should. I’d much rather have the same numbers attend but have them all singing than have twice that number and the same amount of noise as current.
No. Unless we are top of the table
Not really – can only stay the same I think; we’re down to the hardcore now,
Not really, but it’s fun. Nope, why should it. The club aint exactly falling over themselves to entice us away are they?
Not unless we hit a real purple patch and start caning Coventry, Man City, Brum, etc
Yes, I was quite impressed with the away turnouts last season, Watford sticks out as a good one for example. Hopefully success on the pitch will lead to better attenances.
No, if anything it’ll get worse as the novelty of new grounds for some will be less marginally if we are doing better
Think in the main it held up pretty well
Yes, as we are more successful and our new attractive style is picked up on.
No but wish it would
How many matches do you foresee yourself attending next year? :
| 20-30 | 42 % |
|
| 30-35 | 23 % |
|
| All | 13 % |
OTHERS: Less than 10, 35+, 11-19
YOUR COMMENTS:
All the midlands ones. Depends on income.
All home, All FA Cup, 8-12 Away and the playoff final. (what, to see West Brom vs Man Shitty?)
Depends on many things such as flights, but anything over 6 and I’ll be happy. love to make it to ten. (author lives in Dubai)
Many people ARE still going to many. Take note Koppel.
Is this more or less than last season? :
| Same | 43 % |
|
| More | 40 % |
|
| Less | 17 % |
Again, watch yourself Koppel. We ain't going away just yet
Do you see the future under Terry Burton to be good?:
| Yes | 100 % |
YOUR COMMENTS:
Very very good, if we can keep him.
Yes - ripping
Yeah, not much future in his hair tho
Yes, but he must be given time to turn around the playing side of the team whilst Charles sorts out the peripherals (oops). If he has a five year contract, that sounds good to me.
Yes. I had doubts at first but is proving to be quite shrewd in the transfer market.
Yes, but not spectacular.
Yes, he seems to know how he wants us to play.
Definitely – the man is remarkably underrated for his achievements this season
If Terry can continue to build and indoctrinate our young talent at the current rate we will be too good for this league the season after next.
Yup. Like to know his First XI though, to find out exactly what he’s thinking in terms of personnel and tactics.
Yes. His only shortfall has been a couple of dodgy signings. Overall he's going the rightway to get us back into the premiership.
Broadly positive, however it’s naïve to think we can get out of this division without mixing it as well as playing good football
If he is not forced to sell promising players and given some additional resources yes
Better than it has been since 1997.
He plays the right way and we win and score.
Yep, really excited at the prospect of him doing things his way, with the crop of players we have coming good. he and robson seem to be developing a continuity. and the young players are getting experience of playing together in a style that seems to suit them. in three years they’ll still only be 25 on average and have plenty of experience. add to that they should get the winning habit next year.
Additional Comments about next season :
Got to keep Jason Euell (oops). Got to get
rid of Andy Roberts.
Terry needs to strengthen in the centre of midfield, sort out the defence and build a winning side.
The key to success is having a settled team/squad used to playing together. Provided we get a decent left back and Jason stays or is replaced with equal quality, there should be no stopping us. Let’s say thanks and goodbye to Ardley and Kimble who are now just too slow to hack it.
We must get the shitehurst pitch sorted and stop converting wins into draws
As long as we thrash palace I dont care where we finish
Like this time last year, I am quietly confident, but this time with slightly more expectation than hope.
A good start is essential as is avoiding lengthy injuries to key players.
I don’t see us stuffing teams 5-0 next year, but I would expect to turn a fair proportion of the drawn matches into 1-0 or 2-1 victories, rather than losing the lead and settling for a point. We must instil the killer instinct when ahead, a bit like Bolton did in many of their games.
I can't fucking wait
It all hinges on how we start and whether we sell Euell or not
Some people are predicting that we walk the season with record wins. I cannot see it. Our strike force is poor, midfield above average and defence shaky at times. We need a striker who can finish, Damien Francis, and Kenny at right back plus a solid left back.
Lets hope we can mash it up and win the title
I think on reflection, it was the most heartening performance by WFC since 96/97. The rot has been stopped, and perhaps we can see it turning around.
It will be better than this one
Bring it on
I will of course be very concerned if we do not improve on last season in terms of league position, strength of squad and having a new ground identified.
At the season’s end I will be approaching the horrific date when, after 24yrs of loyalty, I will have seen more ‘home’ games at Selhurts than at Plough Lane, at which time I will trundle off to Camberley Town and forget the Dons until a ground is built and open.
I think if we miss promotion next season we may be in division one for a few more seasons.
I think we can realistically compete with any 1st division team now.
Lets do it. Now.
We gotta get out of that palce, opening with a couple of wins could start a roll that I don’t think will stop.
Basically if we start well I expect us to at least take a play offspot.
Please lets not have 25 draws again
1 Terry Burton must pick his best team, substitute properly, make fewer dodgy purchases but keep on playing decent football. 2 Stick rockets up the arses of those fans that go , show no emotion and keep quiet, and fuck off at the final whistle instead of staying back to demonstrate. Where will these bastards go if the club dies??
Wish we had blooded our youngsters earlier as I feel we cannot afford so many debuts when we are pushing for top spot. But if aggy et al continue to progress at current rates, I think we’ll do what fulham did last year – but with much more to come in future years from the same players.
Looking forward to it….as I’m moving out of this piss hole of a country as soon as I can.
Sort our home form out, Tezza.
Optimism abounds. Abounded, anyway.
