WFC FRONT PAGES

Since 1999 to 28 May 2002, I did god knows how many front covers. None the less, they are now all available (there may be one missing, I can't be sure), and in the order they appeared as well.

What I've also done is given a brief explanation about them, be it contextual or whatever.

To view them in their original size, click on the image and it will come up in a new separate window (note: you must have javascript unblocked for this to work)

The first ever SW19 front page. I nicked the image from the Evening Substandard (yes, really). At the time, JH wasn't the most popular of players....
New manager, new ideas
One of Drillo's first ever acts in charge was to put the players through an intensive fitness regime. Success varied...
Who remembers how tough Ben Thatcher was?
At the beginning of 1999/00, we had all the usual spiel about us going down etc etc. Sometimes, hindsight isn't quite so wonderful.
The match fixing probe in 1999/00 sadly didn't bring the Premiership to its knees. The four gentlemen in this picture were the ones convicted. To this day, I am still amazed at how many people connected to WFC were involved - and that's just the ones we know about
Plus ca change.
Drillo's new regime wasn't too popular, especially with REMBE. Talk was of a massive clearout.
Palace's problems with Mark Goldberg at the time was further proof that no matter how shit life is, there's always somebody you can piss on.
Graham Rix. Chelski (or Celsi as they were known as then). Gary Glitter. Perfect.
Bit of a boring one, but then you can't have everything
More Palace bashing. Strange that the year 2000 didn't bring death and chaos.
Ben Thatcher at the time was acting a little bit, well, mad. Usual call for our blood was being made, forgetting certain events on the other side of the world.
Sully was negotiating a new contract. Or to be more precise, was holding out for a better deal elsewhere. Can't recall his Scotland career improving after he left us.
With loads of accusations that we'd lost our fight, our last ever game at Ponti Stamfordi (for now) featured a mass tunnel brawl that warmed the hearts of us all.
Smoking kills.
Relegated. Still, the future seemed bright. The picture was taken by your editor somewhere in Ontario, Canada. Strange thing is, Grimsby, ON is even more bleak than Grimsby, Lincs.
Nobody really considered Mick Harford and Stewart Robson as the men to take us forward...
Famous transfers of our time : Carl Cort. Apparently, Newcastle were convinced they were getting Jason Euell instead. TB once admitted to me that Cort was sold for a little bit more than he was worth....
