GUESTBOOK
NOTE: Don't try any funny stuff like trolling, flooding and other such internet-related abuse.
You don't want to find out why.
Nice report as always REPD. The atmosphere was crap today,
absolutely crap.... I couldn't hear any of the chants you were talking
about, and I was in the Holmesdale! I think the main problem was that I
was in the far left of the stand, and all the noise was on the right,
amongst the ST's. I was sat there against Preston - the noise was
awesome. Anyway, I'll get a seat over there for the Boro game, and get
an ST there next season.

And I'll be there - Saturday, February 10, 2001 at 10:16:18 (GMT)
Jake (again) - forgot to add : why has
MK come up again? Because there's been a changeover in who runs WFC
full time and somebody is sniffing round with a twinge of opportunism.
As I said before, it's somebody trying to stir up interest : if WFC
wanted it then they'd try to keep it quiet.
REPD again
Still cynical - Saturday, February 10, 2001 at 09:45:41 (GMT)
Jake - couple of things. (1) I've been
told that up in MK, there is only one "reliable" paper, the Citizen.
The rest are considered jokes. (2) I seem to remember something VERY
similar happening over Dublin after the league slapped that down.
Basically, somebody who has vested interests in the project - not from
WFC - still tries to stir up interest in the thing. I believe that MK
is as good as dead - if it isn't, that's going to make our current
biggest shareholder, the football league and both the MPs for Wimbledon
and MK look absolutely foolish. (3) CK may be the chairman but he ain't
the owner. The BRG meet seemed to me that any "briefing" at the
handover would be "concentrate on Merton". (4) Wouldn't surprise me if
all the players you mention are gone in the summer...

Jake - these things about the press/MK.
If you can tell me what papers these are from, I can follow it up. As
it stands, there's nothing from MK Citizen at all, and the only stuff I
can find is from the ESS which as we all know isn't exactly the most
truthful paper on the planet.

Whatever WFC do, don't give TB a big
transfer budget... please! To be fair, Williams is ok, but TB did make
some truly awful signings. Given that he spent 1.5 million on Robinson,
and 1.2 million on Holloway... he had the money to spend, he just
didn't spend it wisely.
Dr Womble
TB, a new striker and full back please - Friday, February 09, 2001 at 17:32:57 (GMT)
FL - he hasn't had a big transfer budget
up till now certainly. But as the Lagered Up One has departed, who
knows? I think Pecker was watched by Drillo. Lund was also watched by
OGEM....
REPD
Cold, miserable Morden - Friday, February 09, 2001 at 16:49:24 (GMT)
GBLB: At least TB hasn't wasted 7 Million on a drunken waster. I don't think TB has been given much in
the way of a transfer budget. I thought Karlsson was signed this season. Please enlarge, I don't get that one.
Paul Robinson is the cock up of all time, but maybe now that Hartson has gone to save Coventry from relegation (Heh Heh!),
he will get a chance. Just remember the mess Terry has inherited, he is doing OK. Whats the betting Ekoku scores
tomorrow? We are always very charitable to former players, players who have never scored before/haven't scored in years etc etc.

Cold Miserable bloody Dallas - Friday, February 09, 2001 at 16:35:49 (GMT)
Florida J, the players I marked out as
rubbish were all Burton signings. Burton's transfer record at the
moment is pretty poor. Of his signings only Mark Williams is passable,
although I still have fading hopes that Holloway may turn out to do the
business. And before anyone says it, Karlsson was not a Burton
signing...but a legacy of FLo Jo's favourite manager, Mr Olsen.

FJ, Fair point !!! Perhaps he may end up
playing for Real Paella or some shit. It is a genuine relief to have
him out, I didnt think I would ever say it, but it is indicitive of his
attitude, throw the toys out the pram when you dont get your way. In
his position wouldnt you have got your head down, banged in 25 goals,
earned yourself an extra 250,000 and got a move to a half decent club
?? It's just sad he choice to eat drink and take the piss out of all of
us. Euell wants a move just as bad and deserves it, I dint like his
antics last season, but he has got his head down, played well on the
whole and scored some good goals. My dream 3 to go down from the PL,
Bradford, Man City & coventry , own goal off Hartson's fat arse
sends that annoying Scottish cunt to the dole cue !! am I bitter ??

For me it is like lifting a dark cloud from over the club (well a large bloaty shadow actually!). This club has not

RM - I'm going to try and write an
article on JH tonight, though this little thing called work is getting
in the way. However, I'll say this : the way it's ended is just typical
of the whole of his association with us. I think we were a bigger
laughing stock when we bought him in the first place. There is NO WAY
that we'd got 3m for him under any circumstances. Still, console

It's good that the whole Hartson episode
is over but if the rumours of him going on a pay as he plays deal are
true i'm afraid we're going to be a laughing stock we paid 7 MILLION
for fucks sake lets get at least half back. I just hope there are a few
clauses attached to this deal. What a fucking mess this whole thing is
i think we deserve some answers on the whole situation, I know he's
wages were supposed to be a problem but so much so that we can afford
to just give him away? It doesn't make sense and i think the club
should come out with the truth behind the whole thing but as usual
we'll hear nothing except the rumours that we read on sites like this
and through the media.

Agree that GA still looks a bit short of
match fitness, but thought that he battled well against Keith O'Neil
who is a good wing player too. Could not actually beat him that often
but won a fair number of corners. Pecker was quiet again and with him
and Wild Thang on the wings it is a bit of the Smurf tendency against a
pretty big team. Kimble's corners were generally OK (one bad one I
recall) but aside from Williams not much aerial threat (see Smurf
comment above).Worst game from Euell in a long time - no touch. Not one
of Angrymans best either, especially as he neared the box - which was
not that often. Kramer did well against Boksic but lacks confidence
coming forward. Kenny led the back line brilliantly and matched well
with Williams. Wish we had another top CB to let KC lose on the right.

some amends by putting much more effort in. I know full well he'll be

much chanting for Mr 110% this season despite his improved

still reeks in the minds. You'll have to email me the stuff about

Pergatory - Monday, February 05, 2001 at 13:23:24 (GMT)
Woah - IIRC it was JH who stated after
our relegation he was ready to leave. He then sat down with WFC and
said he would be prepared to stay one season in the 1st division, after
that he would be free to move in the summer. So in effect to start with
it was he who wanted to jump ship. WFC reinstated this by saying that
JH was staying. Then Rangers come in for him, and fair play to WFC they
couldn't stand in the way of such an opportunity, this then signalled
he was up for sale for anyone. WFC then state only 'big' clubs will be
considered. Then from there it goes tits up.
As for Euell, yep last season at the end he was shameful, but he has
got on with the job required, worked hard, even won back favour with
the fans for his performances, even me. Remeber Trond wanting to leave,
now staying and playing different footy to what we saw under Egil. The
point isn't necessarily about JH wanting to stay or go, but more about
putting the effort, doing the graft. Too many lacklustre performances,
letting others do all the work, off the pitch rumours about larging it
etc is not on. What gives him the right to be selected ahead of
Agyemang at the moment? Nothing...
Flawed

Mellie, Hartson shouldn't take all the

Dr Womble
if you hate Euell so much, why didn't you put him in Room 101? - Monday, February 05, 2001 at 12:21:20 (GMT)
REPD:So as Euell has got his head on
straight, about 10 months to late IMO, he's to be forgiven his piss
poor performances yet Hartson who has always insisted he wants to stay
and loves it at wimbledon is to be forever damned because his form for
reasons bought about more by the club than the player has suffered. I
agree 100% that on current form he is not worth a first team place, only
a fool would say otherwise but if the club hed made it clear at the
start of the season that he was not for sale and meant it then i
believe he would still be banging them in just as he was those first
few months of the season. The whole episode has been handled badly and
is now beyond repair can we really afford to lose a player of that
quality i don't think so. As for Euell when he fucks off i for one will
still remember his major role in our relegation.

REPD, most of us are agreed that we want
Harts gone, but I think we are all getting carried away. He was worth 6
million just a few short months ago, and now we want him gone for
nothing. I feel that he is being used as a scapegoat - the fans seem
far more pissed off that we're stuck with BFJ, than with the fact that
we're not going to make the playoffs.

Someone
will buy Hartson, never fear - unfortunately the uk transfer window
closes next month - bye bye Euell.... then who will score? - Monday,
February 05, 2001 at 11:34:04 (GMT)
Roger Mellie - up until now, WFC fans
having been VERY supportive of JH. Too supportive IMO. However, awful
performances against teams like Palace, Pompey and Bolton to name but
three - and the realisation by many people that we're much more mobile
without him - have turned many people off him for good it seems. Euell
has got his head straight again and is contributing positively to WFC -
Hartson isn't. The only thing I may query TB on re: JH is bending over
backwards for him. He clearly doesn't really want him, but until very
recently felt he had to put him in the shop window. Those blaming TB
for JH's problem are totally missing the point. I suspect that those
people are probably still in "awe" at his 7m price tag and feel that
he's some sort of sacred cow. I don't, and now a lot of people agree
with me..... C - no he isn't. And carwashing is great fun (just not in

popular as it should be, therefore is canned soon after. Methinks that

Well said Kris! Let's get a plot/stadium
and then decide how large it should be. We are not, never have been and
never will be a BIG club in the true sense of the word. But, we have
ambitions which are attainable and softly, softly catchee monkey will
see us with a stadium of which we can be proud, playing football in a
style which we endorse and a team which we adore, achieving results
that are the envy of BIG clubs and a spur to smaller clubs like ours. I
have no interest in supporting a BIG club, but I will always support
Wimbledon FC. Plough Lane - Selhurst - Plough Lane!!

angry..but sure it is not true - Tuesday, January 30, 2001 at 13:43:37 (GMT)
Dr W - and here's where I do my
impression of a broken record. Of course BRG knows that a stadium is
expensive. He's got one eye on the impending closeout of the Selhurst
lease. That's why he's actively looking at partnerships. 35m is
expensive for a PREM club let alone a first div one. Do you not think
that he knows that WFC may *not* get in the Prem? Or, Satan forbid, we
get in the Prem and go down again? I think he's looking at stadia
partly because he has to, regardless of what division we're in. We're
practically getting no money in from SP for a start...
REPD
So, for future reference, it's http://gash.net/~repd/index.html - Tuesday, January 30, 2001 at 11:06:34 (GMT)
kris, I can see what you're saying about
the need to build the "business" up, and that a stadium is neccessary
for that. However BRG might decide that to build a stadium for a first
division side would be too risky, and to cut his losses. If we get back
in the Premier League, we would have the attendances, the sponsorship
etc etc, so I would expect a stadium then. IMO he is investigating
places at the moment, and if we get back up, we'll see a stadium. It
just doesn't make good business sense to build an expensive stadium, if
it won't bring in the revenue.
Dr Womble
I meant .co.uk....... still doesn't work... gash it is then ;) - Tuesday, January 30, 2001 at 10:46:22 (GMT)
My big concern about the free coach
offer is a typical WFC problem : how many people will know about it? No
doubt there'll be a little bit on the OS, a tiny little advert in the
Wdon Indie (free, of course), hardly anyone will know about it, few
take it up and the club claim that nobody is interested and will never
do it again. The fact it hasn't already been shouted from the rooftops
by WFC (**not** the fans) fills me with typical pessimism...
REPD
Oh goody, a nice long day in front of this thing again - Tuesday, January 30, 2001 at 09:22:22 (GMT)
West Ham had 99 free coach loads of
season ticket holders and member to Old Trafford on Sunday - what
chance a free coach or two to the Riverside next week for similiar WFC
supporters? Is there a more obscure location/date for an importance
match? With work and school next day for me and my son, the coach is
the only option as presumably you can get some kip on the way back.
Just thought - Middlesbrough fans suffered the same when we beat them
in the Worthington.

BRG will invest if he can see a sensible
return, and not if he can't. At the moment he's building a hotel next
to the stadium in Molde - that's a capital investment if I ever saw
one. Right now he's got a business he paid a lot of money for which is
worth very little. At a new stadium, in or around Merton, that business
is worth a lot more.

Hash, of course he will get more money than if we stay at Selhurst if he invests
in a new stadium, but will the increased revenue justify a huge initial outlay-
you have to speculate to accumulate, but he might decide that it isn't worth the
risk. If we get back in the Premiership, consider a stadium on its way.

Very busy - Sunday, January 28, 2001 at 11:48:10 (GMT)
Dr Womble: You seriously think BRG will make more money lingering around Selhurst
Park than at our own stadium? You can trust me on this, IF WE MOVE BACK TO MERTON
our attendances will increase by about 4000 on average. This season, it would
mean we would have had an average attendance of 11-12000. That will bring in more
money than Selhurst is doing. And he is not going to pay out of his own pocket
is he? 10 million from Wimbledon, 10 million out of grants/loans and the rest
from a partner.
Hash

Re: BRG is an asset-stripper - well, I guess the Financial Times know what
they are talking about.
Dr Womble
busy - Sunday, January 28, 2001 at 10:58:47 (GMT)
Dr W - no, of course R&G aren't going to put 35m themselves into a new stadium.
That's why BRG was saying stuff about partnerships. Yes, he may have come in for
Dublin, but he's now ruled it out and is meeting people with ideas for stadia.
That's a pretty good start. Not too sure if it can be proven he's known as an
asset stripper - you should get yourself a good lawyer if you can't prove it -
and as for "we need to be in the Prem to build a stadium"? Well, read what I said
in the second sentence. The new stadium will need to make money, that's obvious.
But the fact that we're looking at three major and fundamental ways of funding
it (doing it "ourselves", building it in a partnership or getting it built by
somebody else and leasing it) is some cause for cautious optimism at least. As
I said previously, too much cynicism may mean being stuck at Selhurts forever.....
REPD
About to be busy ALL day with work so he'll get this off his chest now - Sunday,
January 28, 2001 at 10:39:21 (GMT)
It amuses me to endlessly read "we could do this for ONLY 25-35 million". Get
real guys, the Nogs aren't going to put anything like that in the club, and even
10 million from BRG himself isn't going to happen. Hash, why would BRG's company
invest 5 million... just because he has a controlling interest, it doesn't mean
that he can order the company to invest in the club. Do you not think his shareholders
would be mighty pissed? My point is this - BRG is a noted asset-stripper, thats
how he makes his money, he is also a very canny businessman. He invested money
in a Premiership club that he thought was going to be involved in Dublin. He now
has a first division club. He is NOT going to invest any money in a stadium until
we get back into the Premiership. There is NO WAY that a stadium would be economically
viable as a business investment, until we are back in the money. Trust me, I know.
