TO: CHARLES KOPPEL, WIMBLEDON F.C. (020 8768 0641)
FROM: ROBERT DUNFORD (020 8241 8549)
2 August 2001
Dear Mr Koppel
I am writing to you today in regards to the news (2/8/01) regarding
Wimbledon Football Club moving to Milton Keynes.
As a fan since 1983, I am sure that I speak for all true supporters in
saying that I feel utterly betrayed at such a move. Worse, the way this
appears to have been done in private has been described to me as (and
I quote) a cold-blooded murder.
I am sure you will get plenty of correspondence on this subject, but I
will gladly state this : I will not go to Milton Keynes to watch an
empty shell of a club that used to be called Wimbledon Football Club.
Having been to watch such teams as the London Broncos, a team who are
built up in the same way as Milton Keynes FC (or whatever the proposed
name will be), I can assure you first hand that the atmosphere can best
be described as plastic, which in turn grossly affects the Broncos
ability to make any challenges for the Rugby League title.
I notice that you are using extremely emotive language to justify this
move have you genuinely found no other place within the SW
London/Surrey area? What is your criteria for a stadium complex
exactly? There is a huge groundswell of feeling that Milton Keynes was
your only choice, and that Merton was merely a smokescreen, your
actions announced today seem to suggest that is the case. Needless to
say, any sweeteners to pamper me to go to Milton Keynes will be
treated with the contempt it deserves. Some would say that it would
merely be a reflection of the contempt to WFC fans shown in this
proposal today. I am not alone in saying that I would prefer to see the
club go bust (your words) than it being franchised off to a place that
I have no affiliation with whatsoever.
As you will doubtless get somewhat more passionate comments in regards
to this, I will issue the following to you politely : Wimbledon fans
will fight this move every inch of the way. They will make things very
difficult for you and anyone in support of this move. They will not
give you any backing whatsoever in this, despite what you may
apparently hope. And they will certainly not be making 136 mile round
trips to watch an alien football team in an alien environment
I would suggest you seriously reconsider your proposed move to Milton
Keynes. If not, you may be unpleasantly surprised at the consequences
Regards,
Robert Dunford

Burton played Ardley persistently last

re Marcus Gayle and John Hartson despite the fact that neither of them
were too inspiring. Had someone offered a decent price for Ardley, I am

Koppel was in (no-one else wanted Ardley) he is within our means. REPD,
TB played Ardley persistently last season, even when GA and others were

that WISA must not get bogged down in being reactionary against Merton
- it does have to have its own WORKABLE solutions as well. And I don't
mean the "let's wait 5 years for a site in Merton that MIGHT come
available" approach either. Trust me, WISA ain't going to get much more

...or do we just presume he's gotta be better than the last lot? - Saturday, July 14, 2001 at 12:47:49 (BST)
Right, I've given myself 12 hours to
reflect on this, so here's my $0.02. WFC have **always** considered the
affairs of the playing staff the top priority. Therefore, if it comes
down to a choice between a public meeting and sorting out a players
contract, the contract will always come first. Without being privvy to
CK's diary, I would imagine that the weekend is/was the only time he
could feasibly sort out this piece of business, especially if it means
getting the player(s) agent(s), lawyers etc out there as well. Not
defending anyone, just pointing out the probable logistics of it all.
IMO we need to get another public meeting sorted out - a good time to
do it is after the Brum game. If CK doesn't turn up for that one, then
of course I will start getting suspicious, however I doubt if it will
come to that (especially if Thorley gets a grip straight away). I still
think that WISA should have accepted the meeting today with CK, if only
so we could have something to talk about tomorrow...

I think John Gale was better value than
that fat cunt Hartson, Thatcher and Lund, put together. And he probably
had a better goals to game ratio than all of them. Compare to last
season, Fatty, 7.5 million of pissed up bad influence or now Shipperley
a tenth of that paid for him and he is up for it. Instead of feeding us
crap like "I'm Wimbledon, through and through". Bollox.

LP - the selling of Dean Holdsworth by
Kinnear was the worst bit of business WFC have done in the last 10
years. Joe sells and says he has a surfeit of strikers. Euell gets
injured days afterwards and suddenly we're bereft of strikers. Deano
was the man as far as I was concerned - he signed off with one of the
best goals you'll see - cross from Kenny(?) and Deano gets in front of
full back and heads home. Dons 2 - 'pool 1. There'll never be another,

spending big money on the Hartson's of the world and we have a self
imposed salary cap so chances of big names coming are slight. The jury
will be out on all of the signings til the season starts but I am
hoping for a bit of flair in midfield to feed that small army of
strikers we snapped up at the summer sales.

7.5m, Andresen 2m, Lund 2m, Thatcher 1.7m, Herman 2.5m all on big
wages players who performed questionably or do you prefer the nominal
signings of players that actually work hard Neilsen (nominal), Williams
(undisclosed 200K(?)), Holloway (1.2M), Hunt (Free), Cooper (750K),
Karlsson (40K) add to that Connelly (free) and Shipperley (750K). Okay
they are not the best players on earth but as long as the 11 players

Look at Boltons side who got promoted. Strikers... ooh Holdsworth and

With the sort of money that we got for

think it odd that we have to sign journeymen players that do not have

cannot think of anything more repugnant than being taken in by that

Quote from Tyke on Big Tissue "last
season during Dave Bassetts reign Shipperley, and maybe Chris Morgan (a
local lad in defence) were the only 2 players to give 100% for our club
every game. Shipperley was usualy left up front to do everything
himself with no support from his fellow forwards at all, he still
managed 14 goals and never once did he give up, get the ball to him he
will get you the goals, I for one will miss him and wish him well and
believe me you have got youselves a bargain there.." - sounds ok to me,
with him and mystery man Connolly and Nielsen and Agy and Gray I think
we might just score enough goals to go with last season's one defeat in
twenty two games to give us promotion. I like TB going back to bargain
basement shopping, Euell out bargains in and generally praise by rival
fans for his efforts so far. And I can think of plenty of things more
sickening that Jonesey's infatuation with Walter Mitty in wellington
boots...

OK, I will be brief. Just what is it
that makes me worry about the signing of Shipperley. Is it becuase he
is NOT the sort of player we would have wanted if we were in the

get us up. I am genuinely confused on this one. I wish our money was
being spent on top quality rather than Soton rejects.

Gotta disagree bout Kinnear&SH however. Kinnear had just about run
out of ideas for the way the team then played and SH mugged the club
and did a runner but manipulated the press into thinking otherwise in
an expert manner. These guys as much as EO fucked us up. Also I think
you will find the newboy DC IS a proven scorer so lets at least give
him a chance to prove it. We WILL finish top ten this year and
hopefully go up.

Gameshow? This is life mate!! - Tuesday, July 10, 2001 at 12:27:13 (BST)
One of the most sickening things of the
past few years was to watch the love affair between W&WW Jones and
Egil Olsen. W&WW were raving about a man that delivered bugger all
to WFC. In fact, I do not beleive those that said that we were destined
to go down anyway - the "matter of time" pessimists. In fact, it has
become abundantly clear that our owners disinterest with the club came
after relegation. If we had survived in the premiership, then I beleive
that we would have seen a damn site more krone being directed our way
than has currently happened. Who knows, we may have been further down
the track towards a new stadium. Now, our owners are just not
interested. They will bide their time this season to see if we can
deliver the goods on a shoestring (which we cannot becuase we do not
have the depth of talent to replace anyone injured). Egil Olsen was the
worst thing ever to happen to WFC and is the SOLE cause of our demise.
Not Hartson. Not Kinnear. Not Hammamm, etc. W&WW's owner even used
to visit his house. His mateyship extended to exclusive ramblings about
a zonal defence system that almost killed the club, or at least
resulted in us being in the position that we are now in. And to think
that he then had the cheek to say that another year would have
delivered us the goodies. Dr Womble thinks that praise is better than
scorn. Well, I have only scorn for Olsen. However, I will praise Burton
for last seasons turnaround. But last season was last season. A season
where we consolidated but in the end remained in the division. This
season has to be it, if all the paludits on the team are to be
beleived. But just who is going to deliver us this, we have no proven
long-term club goalscorers. I am interested to hear.

at 7.45am. We would be taken to the "secret" location where breakfast
would be provided prior to shooting. We left SW19 at 9.05 with no idea
of what was going on and were coached to Selhurts (surprise surprise!.
There was no breakfast! We hung around for two hours before any
shooting was done and then asked what had happened to our breakfast!
Were told that breakfast was not available at the location and should
have been taken at SW19. Sarnies were rustled up along with tea/coffee
and biccies. We then hung around until 12.30 or so at which point some
decided they had suffered enough. Talking to the professional extras
(65 for a 12 hour day!)they thought that we were being treated really
poorly. Anyway, lunch was advised as being at 2.00pm til 3.00pm. Before
this we had to do a crowd scene in the Holmsdale (all 25 of us plus a
few who had been dragged off the street!). Then we had lunch and very
pleasant it was too. By this time they were pleading with us to stay
until 5.00, but I had done enough and caught the coach back with eight
or so others. Don't know what happened afterwards tho. Lawrence has
apparently said never again, but I think it would have been fine if
everythng had been agreed up front and notified to those taking part.
Less of the secret squirrel antics might have been helpful too and
increased the numbers attending which would have reduced the angst of
the director! Need anything else?

Rangdo - some interesting points. I
would agree that there tends to be a general consensus of opinion on
w&ww, and that mostly involves praising TB. However, is that so
wrong? It is actually far easier to criticise than it is to praise, and
surely TB deserves some credit for his work in transforming a team on
the ropes into realistic promotion challengers. Are you honestly
telling me that one defeat in 18 matches isn't good form? Are you
honestly telling me that dictating games against Notts Forest,
Birmingham, Wolves and Sheffield Utd isn't a sign of improvement.
Wolves fans said after we beat them that we played the best football
they had seen all season. I would agree that the start to last season
was dissappointing, but given that we were missing Kenny, Gareth and a
whole host of other first teamers, it was pretty unsurprising. As soon
as KC reappeared with his sunshine, we started storming the division.
Fine we have lost Euell, but I don't believe he was the player scoring
the goals against Wolves, Notts Forest, Sheffield Utd and co. He will
be difficult to replace however, but TB is bringing in who HE wants to
bring in... CK isn't saying "well you want Merson, but we'll give you
Shipperley instead because I say so". I would argue that Euell is not
irreplaceable, because a whole host of other strikers scored 20+ goals
last season as well. Why not come over for a few games, and see Tezza
Ball in full flow....

Who did the eqivilent of the open address book mistake last night - Sunday, July 08, 2001 at 08:56:57 (BST)
Okay Dubai Don, I will tell you why this
is a better chat site. Firstly, there are fewer postings here, meaning
that each posting usually has that extra bit of flavour. On the
W&WW, there are about 400 postings every day, and it is often just
complete garbage like :"See JS me rrrrggg on the Thames, well what
would you know". I fail to see what such postings have to do with WFC.
It betrays the quality of the posters. Second, the web-site owner is a
complete dictator that seems to feel that he has the divine right to
have the last say on everything. His opinions about the club are dodgy
at best and he seems to think that he is fan numero uno, which I do not
pick up elsewhere. Third, he has no sense of humour. It is all very
well being buddy, buddy with Koppell's next door neighbour and getting
access to his bin, but the general news has been filched from
elsewhere. Far too much time is spent by the looks on that sire being
reactive rather than proactive - at least here you can voice the
opinion that there is little to base the supposed improvement next
season based on what has happened thus far. If you do it on that site
you are labeled a heretic. I find it sad that these fans are blinkered
to the real plight of the club (owners that do not care - at least

preclude him from slagging off the W&WW. I do not share those

involved with the W&WW/sycophantism debate on here anyway, but I'll
say this. Throughout my WFC lifetime, we've never bought much in the

The Great Rangdo of Arg has been forced
out of his summer hibernation. I am unable to rest easily as I mull
over the indegestible fact that one set of fans are saying that we have
a stronger side than last year and will storm the league. I. however,
belong in the second camp that sees little achievement thus far to
suggest that we do have a strong squad for next season. A squad strong
enough to emulate Fulham, Blackburn and Bolton. I will explain. I
cannot even remember the name of our first signing (Nowland or
something), a player so obscure that there is little to suggest that he
will be anything but a replacement. As for Darlington, well it was not
difficult to shine for QPR, and he was certainly not their best player.
As for Connolly, he did bugger all for Feyenoord. We are left with Neil
Ardley and M Hughes as our top scorers. Most of the squad have barely
notched up a handful of goals. I am very concerned about how weay our
midfield will be and especially concerend that we have moved from a
glut of good forwards over the years to have little of worry to the
opposition. Over at W&WW, the ostriches truly have their heads in
the sand. That site is full of sycophants that cannot see the forest
for the trees. We need a few big quality players. I despair at seeing
Euell's money used up in consultancies for crappy sites. Even worse, it
is feeding the fat bellies of our owners. Fan morale and expectation is
at an all time. It is time for action!

probably why TB has got Connolly. But we still need another striker, a

he's trying to get up early so that the big mother CB can't use his

Flawed - Neilsen looks to have all
skills, he just wasn't utilising them properly.... for example he can

on his poor goal scoring record for Grimsby, and the cheapness of his
fee.

(I hope) I hear what you are saying about his goal stats but rember
that when he came he wsn't as match sharp as Euell, and he did have

same runs etc. And as for heading how many goals did Jase score with

well capable of 20+. If you don't believe me I have a friendly bet with

Didn't really seem to say anything new? Although it is clear that _BRG_
thinks there will be more scope for investment in the PL. (Although
Koppel has said that the extra income will be needed for the extra
costs.) NS- our pathetic home support? looked like a fairly full
Holmesdale to me. One thing that made me laugh- Jordan saying that he

REPD. Great front cover. We all knew
Euell was going to leave yonks ago. The question remainss, how will TB
replace him. Presumably TB has some targets in mind and knows what his
budget is (but after the Dunne fiasco one can never be sure). However,
if we did what we did last season and do not bother to replace a
quality player like Euell, I fear we have no chance with our current
strike force of getting near the play-offs. The jury is still out on
Neilsen, Wayne Gray is to put it politely raw talent (but then so are a
lot of players on Tooting Common on Sunday morning) and Ageymang will
need to be far more consistent than last season if he is to do real
damage. Now I don't expect us to be buyign Armstrong or any other mega
wage earner, but there is talent around in the lower divsions a la
Jason Roberts or Barry Hayles.

never really heard much about hauger,
but i take that as a good sign. apparently wfc have a marketing dept
(according to repd's EOSP) and having some specialists in can only push
that on. and surely they must see that a 'local' fanbase is essential
(ie SW-london/A3 ground) if we are to capitalise on the prem (this time
round) and build up a HOME support. cant wait for the season. said this
time last year (almost to the day, when i arrived here) that going down

I could be wrong, but my understanding
is: BRG and KIR owned Aker. Aker bought 80 % of WFC. BRG then sold his

in buying Sam's remaining 20%. So the three of them have an equal
interest in WFC.

with over 2 million people living within the immediate catchment area
(this makes it the biggest single catchment area in England bar none)
and yet you have attendances that rarely fill Uncle Ron's ground. The
population of WFCs catchment area is about 180,000 (given the proximity
of Clesi, Foolham and CPFC) which gives us a 3.6% attendance from our
catchment area c/w 0.88% for your lot. Even though our total is lower,
I would be more concerned if I was in the marketing dept at CPFC cos

Yup, the Lebanese child porn ring leader. Basically, they picked up on
the sheeps testicles thing, and they did a mock phone interview with
him on the phone, accusing him of being obsessed with men's genetalia.
Best of all, they even put in a quip about "brown envelopes" being

impressive. Watford away's one of my favourite fixtures of the season,

Some good questions from FJ in his
letter to CK and also a refreshing balanced view on the mess the new
owners have had to contend with. Wasn't it with Molde that they took
from 2nd divi in Norway to Champs league? If so after the amount
invested in us you would have to assume they would like to repeat the
process which probably makes more business sence than any other
scenario. When we talk about bolt on businesses to go along with
stadiums I always think a casino would be the best bet as there is not
another one in competition for miles and whoever heard of a skint
casino? This is a very affluent area that is crying out for such a
business. Think of how this would benefit from other major sporting
events in the area as well.

I too generally agree with Rango. I
though have a couple of points. One last night I had a thought that Pre
Season training begins in a week. Where are the new players? While I
have reasonable faith in the squad as it is, but if we are serious
about promotion then we need one major signing to lead the charge.
Secondly, I have a big problem with this "close to Merton" business.
Tolworth would be nice, but there are already, environmental problems,
the A3, major opposition etc. To my mind this is the thin end of the
wedge, anywhere in that North West Surrey area are Tory heartlands, so
if you think you can drop a stadium in the backyard of some retired
Colonel, think again. I think you will get more opposition than from
Merton. That pushes it to Feltham and Gatwick (ugh!). At that point I
will be retiring with my Clash of the Titans video.

GROA - I, like REPD, agree with most of
waht you are saying and have written to CK saying as much. What I want
him to tell us all, however is that MK is a definite no go, much as he
did with the QPR situation. I have been lucky enough to have seen the
Dons play at Plough Lane for twenty odd years and I am grateful for the
memories. Yes, I would love to play again in Merton, but I think that
we will get something better (as in less resistence from councils,
opportunity for a greater fan base etc) not too far from Merton. If
this is the case, then CK has my support, but he must learn how to talk
to the fans as his current tone is a little mater of fact (ie
businesslike) and not positive enough for many, leaving too much unsaid
and open to (mis)interpretation. I thank you for listening!

years for a SITE to become available, let alone build the thing. And
that's if it's suitable in the first place. If it was 5 years from now
until this new site (which I don't know where it is) housed the DonDome
then I would certainly not suggest bolting anytime soon. However, I
think we have got 5 years max to sort something - forget SP, Ron Noades
would sell the whole site to Sainsbury's if he could. Key is, where?

REPD - I would wait 5 years for us to
get back to Merton. If it could be part of an agreed strategy where we
knew exactly what the plans were then it could work. Obviously interim
arrangements would need to be pretty tight and the proposed site would
need to be out in the open. Surely 5 years in a 100 yr plus history
isn't all that long if it meant we could be back where we never should
have left. Any chance that the site you've heard about could be named
or alluded to? or at least what would be the chances of it being less
than 5 years with the right sort of backing?

Rango - for once, I'm very close to
agreeing with you wholeheartedly. I think a major league clear-the-air
meet with CK/WFC about it is vital. I thought this almost immediately
after that announcement, but I held back on it : we now have to make a
stark choice - do we continue to press on for Merton, or do we do as CK
has stated himself, ie draw a line under Merton, keep the memories, and
find something "better". The danger with still looking at Merton is
that we will either waste another 10 years at SP or become so bogged
down in it that something like MK does become a reality. I've heard
that there could be a pukka Merton site available in 5 years time. With
all due respect, I don't think we can wait 5 years just for it to
become available. As said on Tuesday, look how many clubs don't play in
the town where they take their name (best example is Bolton). We may
end up having to bite the bullet over Merton, it could really make or
break WFC...

Packing his sunscreem - Sunday, June 24, 2001 at 10:05:13 (BST)
The Great Rangdo of Arg is annoyed! I
have monitored the web-sites for several weeks now in a peaceful
manner. However, it seems that some Dons fans just cannot see the
writing on the wall. Sorry, but no more Merton. I would love for us to
be in Merton, but a fact is a fact. Unless any fan has the money to get
us to Merton, then I suggest that they get out of cloud cuckoo land.
Nothing is more obvious than that residing at Selhurst is killing us
because we have no fans. The club will not get promoted this year
because ultimately there is no money for the players required. We must
move. And now that we know that Merton is out, then Dons fans all over
must ensure that we make the most of a bad deal. We should move to a
community that wants a team and use it to build up the number of fans.
What is so novel about WFC playing somewhere else, after all we have
been doing it for 10 years. Yes, you may all have a go at me for
suggesting this, but would you rather remain at Selhurst or are you
still pining for Merton. I seriously hope not. Now is the time to get
behind the club to determine where we can go. I do not see that the
followerrs that say Merton or nothing should be allowed to destroy the
club. Back at the WWW web-site the talk is as mundane and trivial as
ever. By the way, I do not mean MK, just somewhere that is as close as
possible, in a greenfield or brownfield site in outer London - and NOT
f****** MERTON, COS IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN !!! Do we want to be known as

to the WISA statement/comment ('whether we accept the ruling out of
Merton as a possibility). I just don't personally have a hang up

really raises its ugly head again, I'll be standing by your side
demonstrating. If it becomes a reality, my relationship with WFC like
many others will cease.! Simple really.

also at work - Friday, June 22, 2001 at 13:14:28 (BST)
I've been keeping a little bit quiet
over the possible MK stuff, so I'll put my $0.02 in now. Already WFC
have put themselves at a disadvantage IMO by turning down WGS on cost
mainly. The FL could then ask "so hold on then, you want to move to MK
because it's money related only? Piss off and find somewhere cheaper".
There's too much left undone with regards to organisation, partnerships
etc for anything unpalatable to hit the fan yet. The statement which
everyone seems to have interpreted somewhat negatively was written on
committee according to my well placed sources (all right, Kris told
me), meaning there was nothing likely to be substantive. Don't read
that much into it, and what was/wasn't said. How do I explain the
current fear of MK, who many are convinced is now inevitable? Let's
just say that there are two words popping into my head about all this,
one begins with "p" and the other begins with "m". I will say no more,
anyone who knows my private views on it will have some idea of what I'm
on about (perhaps), and I will not respond to any questions or comments
on it. Is MK more likely? IMO I think Dublin was more likely - there
are some major differences in regards to attracting support between
1996 and 2001 for starters. As said in my last news update, why bother
to even do stuff in the community and attract families to WFC if the
intention is to uproot? Am I being too naive? Or is that too logical? I

Fortunately, CK seems keen on a public meeting, it's a pain that it's

all costs. One thing I reckon, the stadium bandwagon has just been

Fine, but we should not settle for the first new option put on the
table (Milton Keynes) and use the Merton excuse for it.
Tolworth/Gatwick would be fine as it is within the vicinity....
Would Arsenal re-locate to Milton Keynes?....no they had enough
difficulty persuading fans that Wembley might be an option!...They
heeded that and went for Ashburton Grove.

Samsara,
I disagree. I am have been a season-ticket holder for 5 seasons, never
been to Plough Lane & I live in Kent. I still believe that a team
needs an identity and most of that identity is derived from their
location and local support. To say a club can move any and morph it's
fan base is stupid.
Wimbledon is the name, and Wimbledon it should stay.
Look at all the people who go to the Tennis each year, I think they
would be mighty pissed off if the Lawn Tennis Association said "right
we own all this and we are moving it lock, stock to Milton
Keynes...best you follow or else!"

One question. What percentage of season
ticket holders actually live in the Borough of Merton. I doubt that
many more than 10% of the people who turn up at Selhurst Park have ever
watched a first team match at Plough Lane. Does that worry them - No,
of course not. Who really cares if the club ground is based there.
Obviously it needs to be in the general area, but Merton itself?? I
don't think so - there is no point taking on battles that you can't
win. We pay our 210 a year to watch 23 games of football. Who are we
to dictate to the people who have already paid 30million for the club
that they have to shell out another 60 million just so we can go
'home'. I think that there are probably just as many supporters who go
to matches week in week out who don't live in Merton and couldn't care
less whether the gound is in Merton or not, just as long as they can
get to it with relative ease.

have said "no" to a site that maybe was not 100% suitable. I've not
criticised R&G or CK that much since they took over at WFC, and I'm
not going to start today. They HAVE stabilised a club that was
freefalling into financial ruin through wanton spending, as well as the
other things you mention. They HAVE gone through the proper channels
with regards to the WGS - the fact that people are picking holes in the
findings, saying "hold on, why don't we do this", or "why don't you try
funding it this way" shows that there is still life in Merton, even if
the club have officially said no. I would not be surprised to see this
thing drag on more than I would have said at 7.11pm last night. Either
way, people have re-focused on the ground issue yet again...

A worthy cause is a good thing and let
noone cast aspersions that I am less of a fan for residing on planet
reality. First new owners had to stop the rot of the SH regime! Step
one - Training facilities purchased and a club shop in the area. Step
two - Do not throw rediculous amounts of money at an impossible
situation. Bring stability to the club, Appoint a manager that can be
trusted and then have the courage of your convictions to stand by and
let him work. Step three - Bring about a viable conclusion to the
ground problems in a business like manner whilst trying to communicate
the process to a extremely fed up fan base. Not easy!! but happening.
Lets have a touch of perspective people please. Have read so much
bunkum in the last 24hrs on other sites we should remind ourselves that
we have a manager and team capable of exciting things next season and
owners that are actually looking into the ground issue rather than
trying to get the club to some unworkable destination(fingers crossed).
let them know if they have missed something rather than just a lot of
inane we'll fight em on the beaches.

will CK always find every proposed alternative too expensive? Let's
face it the only way the owners will make back their money on this
lemon is either to sell to some idiot who will pay the price or to
invest in a worthwhile asset which is a new stadium but business men
are business men cos they are in business and CK will know exactly how
much he/they are willing to spend and it ain't gonna be 60 mil. I can

Due to the excitement of a Wimbledon

inspired into chasing up the Selhurst box office to send me a ST
application form. This is the second year in a row I've had to make the
effort of actually chasing a form up. I just wonder how many other
members and ST holders have not received application forms, and if not,
whether some will just not bother to renew. I jsut cannot believe the
incompetence mixed with the casualness of WFC's approach to its most
important customers. We could perhaps learn a lesson from palace here,
who actively marketed its season tickets for this season as early as
last February with reductions, and so encouraged its supporters to
renewal.

a.) it is workable, they have agreed to sell us the site, we hope to

effective as any protest IMO. As for being a politician, I have low

invariably taken! I know a few of my mates are thinking of moving there

LONDON 1 JULY 2001 - Wimbledon Football
Club have reported a massive slump in season ticket sales from 4000 for
last season to just 4 this season. The club have expressed their shock
at such a dramatic slump, and may well be reconsidering their options
to move away from Selhurst Park. "We are completely astounded by this
lack of enthusiasm" says a club spokesman "the season tickets were only
sent out yesterday from a John Bull printing press in South Yorkshire.
We cannot understand why nobody has taken us up on the offer". The club
spokesman continued "I never said that Milton Keynes was a good idea,
nor did I say it was a bad idea. I don't believe we need an official
site to tell people about season tickets and I just can't understand
why people don't go and support Wolves in the 50s like I did".

re: covering the pitch for Burnley which subsequently forced us to
cancel the game? I know that WFC complained about the state of the
pitch to Jordan, whether he turned round and said his usual I don't
know, but I doubt if CK and Jordan swap christmas cards. Come to think
of it, most of those who work at CPFC don't actually like him. FWIW it

GBLB - I think the premise of a new
stadium in SW19 would be the ultimate sweetner for LR. The journey
problems will be a, er, problem, but the reasons for moving from SP to
LR anyway are: 1) much easier from SW19 to W12 than SE25. 2) The chance
to get our own dough for LR - can't at SP. 3) Smaller stadium than SP
(this has been mentioned by WFC apparently). 4) Here's the craic -
relationships between WFC and CPFC are at an all time low. Basically, I
think CK has had enough of Jordan...

Loftus Road may well be easier for some

more difficult journey than Selhurst. I know at least six or seven
people who I sit with regularly at home matches, for whom LR would be a
horrendous journey (Balham to West London) Even if it was predicated on

FL/CUNW - I won't read too much into the
season ticket thing, I've got mine but many others haven't. It's just
yet another fuck-up from the brain dead WFC admin staff, nothing
sinister - if nobody had their ST then it would be time to question. As
for ground announcements, things will only start happening 1st July
onwards. We all know why this is, and I'm cynical enough to believe
that all the while cheap STs are available nothing even remotely iffy
will be done. The e******n is over, so there's no political pitfalls
(in theory) to overcome. I forget when the 6 weeks is due up, but I
think it started a week after the season ended. Give it another week or
two. I haven't had any vibes coming out of anywhere about it, which is
