NOTE: Don't try any funny stuff like trolling, flooding and other such internet-related abuse.
You don't want to find out why.
I was called a "sick girl" yesterday by
this bloke from the technology department (cos I was fiddling with my
PL wallpaper and had W&WW on the screen) and today, he told me that
he will send me an email each Monday when the season starts to remind
me that Wimbledon have yet met another defeat. What's wrong with the
technology department??

anywhere else to go if the truth was known. I think he'll sign. Not so
sure about Merson now, there are too many negative vibes coming out
about this now. That said, if Villa sign either Juninho and/or Ginola,
expect Merson to ride the white line down to WFC quicker than you can

OK all, there's not much chance of a
proper update until tomorrow - I still have to set up stuff like my
digital camera and all my HTML files - so here's a couple of random
thoughts : I was impressed by many of the youngsters yesterday,
including Rob Gier and Chris Wilmott. In fact, I would say that of
those who played yesterday, it was really only Gayle and JH who looked
out of sorts. Can't wait until Kingstonian. The Paul Robinson signing
looks a nice one, I guess that Lund and Euell are increasingly looking
likely to go. Witness Euell's euphemistic knee injury yesterday. The
Paul Merson story is getting weird, with Merson himself saying that he
is staying at Villa - even though paper reports suggest that we've come
in for a higher bid for him. And TB sounded *pretty* sure that it
wasn't going to fall through yesterday.....

Getting to grips with Windows 2000 - Sunday, July 23, 2000 at 20:17:13 (BST)
Just a few comments about yesterdays
game. All in all I thought we did okay. Individually, pretty well all
of the players carried out their tasks well. Obviously with such a
blend of old and new players (first team and reserves), a flowing
passing game was not to be - that only happens when players have played
together regularly over a period. The signs were good though. In
particular Hawkins impressed me. He trapped the ball and passed it -
just what we need. My only real concern is that Kimble was the only
first team player who played the whole game - just shows you how much
we need some back up for him. It was good to get back to football
though - the summer break is too long. WTID - Neal Ardley - Neal Ardley

bought as it goes (behind Heaven and Hell and Black Sabbath).
Musically, it's pretty good, though it's not one of my favourites - I
personally prefer Master Of Reality and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.

Burton: No Dons switch for Adams
By Ken Dyer
Wimbledon manager Terry Burton has ruled out the chances of signing Arsenal
captain Tony Adams.
Burton has been linked with a move for the England defender, who has a year of
his contract remaining, but Burton admitted: 'I am sure Tony wants to continue to
play at the highest level and I can't see him leaving Arsenal.'
Burton, however, is hopeful of signing Michael Thomas on a free transfer.
The former Arsenal and Liverpool midfielder is a free agent after leaving Benfica and
has been training with Wimbledon.
Another former Arsenal player who has been training with Wimbledon is midfielder
Ian Selley, who has had injury problems in the past two seasons.

Just read FL John's new article, and
this bit grabbed me: "Most people had begun to live in the malaise of
Selhurst, a sort of twilight world, brightened by the Premier league".
At the time, most people were "accepting" SP, primarily because SH had
browbeaten people into believing it. I remember somebody getting a
letter from Merton Council at that period (actually, I got one as well
- I'll put it on Sights), which said that SH had not contacted Merton
for a while - this contary to what SH was telling everyone. Remember
this : Merton Council have never turned WFC down for a stadium
application since 1991 - Sam Hammam has.

I can't see it. I think if we can hold on to Hartson, we should be

The Wiz
Oz - Saturday, July 08, 2000 at 23:17:31 (BST)
All - I have to say that I am beginning
to like what I see and hear about our man TB. He seems to be his own
man, but in a more "club aware" manner than Drillo and this can only be
good at this time. He isn't panicking about next season and clearly has
the good of WFC as his main concern. He is clearing the players who
either (a) are not good enough for the 1st Division, let alone the
Prem, (b) don't want to play for our great Club, or (c) will fetch good
money now that can be used to further improve the squad. If he wants to
create a team that can play football we need to give him time to
deliver these people to the Club. He is no fool and will doubtless have
even better contacts than REPD and Jonesy on who is a talented prospect
from the lowere divisions. The thing to consider is whether these types
of players want to come to a "long ball" outfit. TB has to show that we
are a team that wants to play the game in a way that the Europeans play
in order to attract such players. I, for one, don't care if it takes
another five seasons to get up (or even if we never go up), so long as
I think that I will be going to watch a well balanced team who want to
beat the opposition by playing in a style that is changeable depending
on how the game is going. We cannot say that this is going to happen
unless some changes are made. Sure, we need to keep a few of the more
seasoned players who are capable of playing a relatively skillful game,
but those who come in must be able to fit into the various systems,
rather than thinking "I'll just welly it up there and see what
happens". Think how we struggled to beat Barnsley and Man City in
recent seasons with this mentality and how it didn't serve us well at
all against Fulham. TB will deliver what we all want if he is allowed
to get on with things and he is showing that he has strong ideas and
beliefs for the way forward to success. If BT goes, who's to say that
TB doesn't unearth another nobody like Nigel Winterburn was when he
signed? Sorry to drone on, but I have kept quiet for a few days and
read what has been said here and on W&WW, just to guage the
feeling. I don't think that TB is another Drillo even if he inherited
the same problems in a different division, so let's allow him to tell
us what's going on in his own time and on his terms as he seems to
think we (the fans) are deserving of that at the very least. WTID SA

C - if it's made public that Maggie's
ankle ain't that good, it makes most other teams think twice before
buying him. If Spurz DO buy him, they'll be accused of paying 5m for a
cripple. However, if we keep him, then unless we can find a
witch-doctor we'll be stuck with another costly injury-prone player.
Considering all eventualities, I think 5m is a good deal.

I don't want to see Thatcher go because
compared to other players, he's committed and has skills (not to
mention his lovely strong thighs). But maybe his ankle is really fucked
(and we know that it will never fet fixed)? And maybe TB knows there's
someone in our youth team who can adequately replace him? We have lost
better players than Thatcher (Winterburn?) and we survive. I reckon we
still have a squad of good players and provided that every one tunes
in, I am sure we will be okay. I wish Thatcher good luck (particularly
of his international career). If we ever play Spurs, I know I won't and
can't boo him (and Perry and Sully).

On Maggie Thatcher... - Saturday, July 08, 2000 at 11:32:34 (BST)
Right, some thoughts and comments on
various things : firstly, Maggie "going" is an arse. But how often
would the guy stay on the field next season for us? If he won't sign a
contract extension, it's best to get something for him. Secondly, isn't
it funny that many were saying last season that the club needed a
clearout, and now we're kind of doing one everyone is suddenly getting
cold feet. My feeling is that TB wants to build his "own" side (witness
the comments that he wants to build a more "footballing" side), but
after Maggie and one or two fringers go, the "out" column won't be
filled in any more for now. Thirdly, for anyone asking about adding
links, dissertations etc, I will work this evening on them. And
finally, yes Baggy IS to do "Wimbledon Pie" on Kareoke. I just have
visions of Weird Al Yankovic's version of "American Pie" (on the
"Running With Scissors" album - go buy it now) running through my head

Quick thought on Maggie seeing as though
I haven't updated tonight - losing him is an arse, but I would rather
get the 5m touted for him than keeping him and getting 0m this time
next year. Remember that Spurz are actually signing 80% of one of the
Premiership's worst defenses over the last 3 years. Perhaps more
importantly, BRG and David Barnard are openly hinting that the money
can be used for transfers, and I don't doubt that TB has *something* up
his sleeve.... Also, keep check on Gareth Ainsworth playing up front
next year : when he and JH played at Swindon in the pre-season last
season, they hit it off with each other brilliantly, and just destroyed
them.

WB was apparently going to return to his
old Israeli club for something like 500k, but TB made a phone call to
Israel and asked him to come back because he wanted him (boy, that's a
dirty image). As for the debt whether it's Wyndmore or just WFC, I
think the two entities (Molde and WFC) are separate from each other. If
they aren't, it's probably from a business point of view no bad thing
if the truth was known. And apparently it's not worth getting uptight
about a 10m debt anyway - Leeds lost 16m a year or so ago, but most
of that is probably for tax purposes (you do not pay tax on a loss but
you do pay tax on profits). More from the SW19 Inland Revenue

without needing to sell Badir. I think he's a good player myself, and

went down particularly well against Tottenham (A) because they weren't

at QPR last season when the whole crowd sang it. It doesn't gather

often asked why we don't play in Wimbledon (although only once asked if

enough for her still to come with me? Interesting take on things and I

Florida Jihn: Interesting article in the
Regulars section. You are spot on with the "why do we support" bit.
Like many of
my schoolmates I followed the Elephant & Castle trend of supporting
who your mates supported - or in my case the school
bully because it made my life easier, being a specky-lecky four-eyes
with NHS frames! But as you grow you question your commitment
and start to look for something that raises your spirits and your life.
Hence my support from 1984 for a team that epitomises everything that
I consider right in football: effort, sweat. toil. some skill, passion
and that little something that makes it right. Hence
Wimbledon FC. It is this (or rather the lack of it) that upset me and
so many others last season. As Wimbledon fans we always were held
in grudging respect by fans of other "trendier" teams - something I've
especially found up here in the frozen north - but last season that all
disappeared
with a majority of the teams' performances (Man Utd excepted,
thankfully). It is this feeling that we need to get back, but please
don't think that I'm
advocating a return to The "Crazy Gang Days" (copyright The Sun). More
a "Sunday Morning Football " feel about the team. In the halcyon days
it was almost as if the
players had wandered in off of the streets after a night out, met in a
pub car park, gone round to someone's house to wake them up because
they'd overslept, and then gone to
the ground in a convoy (including the obligatory 3 times round the
roundabout at The Elephant because one of you couldn't get on as the
traffic pulled out!). The backs
against the wall attitude that you get when a second Division team gets
drawn against Top Of The Premier. It may sound as if I feel that we
were on borrowed time in The Premiership.
Far from it. If anything we were the clever little lad who does his
homework but mucks about in class for a bit of a laugh, and still gets
good marks in the end of year exams! Last year though we
were found wanting! Anyway, enough waffle. I'll save it for my own bit
of stuff for here. As I say, good show old boy! Look forward to the
next instalement.

Basking in stardom - Wednesday, June 28, 2000 at 10:02:01 (BST)
Now for something completely serious, I
believe I have found the perfect site for a ground. The council won't
give us a greenfield site, so we should look to using old buildings for
a ground. What I am thinking of is the large area of decrepit
warehouses which can be found on the route from Morden to Shitehurst, I
think it is near Ravensbury park. Well this site would be perfect,
because it is not slap bang next to a residential area, the facilities
are poor so the businesses would gladly leave for compensation, and
Merton Council wouldn't lose a greenfield area cause we are using an
old site. If any one raises the issue of transport, it is near a tram
stop and it has a train station, I can't remember the line, and has a
number of medium sized roads. This is all mere conjecture, but this is
the perfect answer. Another alternative I reckon is the Gateick Idea,
before anyone calls me a muppet or an idiot of the sort, should listen
to the reasons why. Recently I traveled to Hove on the train from
Clapham (To watch cricket) and in 20 minutes we had passed through the
gatwick stop. Ho Hum, this is all just ideas, but I thought i'd share

Morden preparing for war - Tuesday, June 27, 2000 at 21:58:12 (BST)
Kermit - the intention and belief that
we can do well can only come IMO from being a much more professional
outfit. The first (or old second) is much different than 1985/86, and
there are teams down there who could whup our asses. REMBE's comments
about "teem sprt" (Alan Hansen) would have had more creedence to them
had they not come after a time when the players decided that they were
going to try and get relegated after JK's ticker went. The "sprt" had
virtually gone by then anyway. IMO..... MW - Do you keep in any contact
whatsoever with Ozzy? Came across some London Clarets at a yoof game
once, and nearly started a ruck with them. Speaking of rucks, it's a

Read your "Premiership Who cares?"
article. Thought provoking as usual and I almost agree with you (also
as usual). I do not think either that we will "walk it" like Charlton
did last year even with our squad more or less intact (ie no CC or BT),
but we certainly should be in contention. Yes, let's be more
professional, but we still need the intention and belief that we can do
well. If we keep players like KC, JH, HH, MH, GA, TA this year (as I
hope) it will be a lot more difficult to keep them the next year if we
fall well short. We may have some good youngsters, but nobody that
leaps out as better than these guys yet. Also give REMBE a chance this
year; he probably had to drop a division as player and we may see the
benefit. His media connections made some comments seem worse if you
were looking for disloyalty, but his early comment about hoping that EO
did not throw out the better aspects of the WFC spirit etc could be
taken as being far sighted and not as negative as some EO supporters
claimed.

credit card which I lied to get. 1 = 1 mile, and I do a bit of
purchasing on behalf of people. UA send me offers like "do this online
survey and we'll give you 3000 bonus miles" and today I got a circular
through saying that if I book a flight to the US before 31/12/00 then I
get a free round-trip on British Midland to anywhere in Europe. I've
been a UA member for 3 years now and have accrued over 60,000 miles

SW - No wonder you're pissed off at
Trond wanting to leave ...what price loyality (as I try to save me
pennies to buy season tickets for me and my wife) ! An example of
loyality came last year when one of our senior players - you know, the
one who's completed almost a decade od service with the club - received
a serious injury playing for the reserves - THE RESERVES - presumably
trying to get his first team place back. How many other SENIOR PL would
have BOTHERED showing up at Watford if they were dropped? Also I wonder
how many Tronds would have stuck with the club for as long, especially
after a first season (back in early 1990s) when our home attendances at
SP were shit?
OK, he's reaching the 'twilight' of his playing career, but why the
(constant) slagging of RE on this site? 'Cos he slagged EO? But isn't
it the case that the owners offer to Norge players of
'your-chance-to-play-in-the-English-Premiership' via EO has seriously
back-fired on us? TB's got enough of a difficult job to convince the
younger, quality players to stay without WFC fan fan sites knocking
players he obviously wants in his 00-01 plans. Discuss

is really on the mark and probably puts into words what a great many of
us have thought privately. There is a world of difference between blind
faith and reality and the latter seems to be somewhat lacking in a
number of correspondents. It is not that others who have a different
view are wrong or oblivious to the facts, we all have the same passion
ATEOTD, but it is far more difficult to come to terms with the cancer
that has stricken the Club face to face, than it is to dismiss the
other Div 1 clubs as if they are turning up just to watch us win
matches. It is the different circumstances week in, week out, on the
pitch and off the pitch that makes the game we all love what it is. I
for one would be happier to spend the rest of my life watching us in a
lower division and competing than struggling to keep up with clubs that
are multinational conglomerates with the spending power of the German
government. Sorry to drone on, but I felt inspired by your article and
I suppose that it is there for that purpose? WTID SA

TRFC share more than you may think if you give it a thought (underdogs,
small fish in big pools, overshadowed by giants near by, small
attendances/fan base etc). As someone who grew up 5 mins away from
Prenton Park - but found the Dons in '87 - they're both 'my' clubs so
I'll enjoy it whatever. ...One wish for 00-01 after the latest fan

I have to say that I am not at all
shocked at having seen England go out of Euro2000. Does any of this
sound familiar: unable to defend a lead, allow opposition to equalise,
allow opposition to take the lead, defend as if all players speak a
different language and have only met before at a nightclub! I would
like to have a degree of confidence in the Dons doing better than this
England team next season, but fear that we might have found our
settling place given the current squad (albeit temporarily I hope). We
desperately need a couple of decent midfielders to get us out of the
Nationwide. Anyone else think it ironic that the main England sponsors
are also our league sponsors next season????? WTID

Let's face it, Chris Bart-williams
couldn't be any worse than one J. Euell could he??? Plus, CBW has been
a good player in an average team for a while now. Remember, players can
be bad in one team and then move and 're-kindle' their careers and play
really well, it all depends on the system played, and the atmosphere
and attitude of the players themselves. For all we knoe Cort could get
his transfer and start playing really really well and become an England
regular. Bergkamp was playing shit in Italy but then moved to Arsenal
and starts playing really well again. It's all cirumstances and CBW

it was the last time an individual entity had been threatened by UEFA
in that way, I am fully aware of Heysel in 1985 (and wouldn't that be
ironic if England got banned because of events happening in the same
place yet again). The thing is, everyone keeps calling it a "small

minority". Sadly for England, the only two solutions to stop it is to
ban the England fans or ban the England team.

Florida John - Michael Hughes only
really improved when he started defending thus closing up the gaps
between midfield and the defence. He may have broken his leg for WFC
and for that I am grateful because (and you are right) unlike those
crybabies, he did play as best as he could. However, he's one of those
players who is very suspicious of Olsen's tactics and at the beginning
of the season, he refused to play the way he's told. Is Michael Hughes
in Drillo's plan? I think he is. I think Drillo rates him. But as I
said below, it's not enough to have good skill these days. You need to
have proper discipline, you need to play with a tactic and a strategy.
MH I am afraid didn't understand this until it's too late. And I've
never said MH is a crybaby. According to REPD's definition, the term
"crybaby" only covers people like CC and JE. I mentioned MH name

Don't go yet. The workers couldn't work
with the tactics, therefore the tactics are at fault. Period. That's
why they complained about them. The tactics need to fit what is already
there, unless EO wanted to replace the entire team, which isn't
practical. Also - our players are not all up to the standards of the

tectics do not necessarily work in a club setting, as we have seen.

Dogsbollox - Trond may start, you never
know. As for Drillo's tactics not working, well, how do you know when
his tactics were never properly implemented by the WFC players thanks
no small part to our crybabies, Michael Hughes and Robbie Earle? Don't
blame relegation on Drillo. Blame it on those who are too arrogant and
too inflexible to play a different style. If Drillo's style doesn't
work, explain to me why Spain didn't score one single goal (as opposed
to asking you why Norway won cos you probably would say Spain has a
dodgy goalie, too easy baby). The problem with English football is
players generally do not possess any tactical awareness. You only hear
managers/the press/men in pub putting lots of emphasis on which players
to pick instead of which players to pick and what tactics to play.
Football has moved in lightyears and having 11 good players are not
enough these days (and I am not even sure if there're 11 good players
on the pitch when England played). You need that extra thing. I am
afraid England don't have it. Bye, bye England after the first round.

policy. Can't wait for us to get into Europe (AGAIN! re '88) and us
'nick' some of Molde's squad! My point - and I do have one - is we need
all the players we CURRENTLY have on our books to get back to the Prem.
Or are any of the Norway eleven who beat Spain available? (And I still
can't believe we fans are talking about the Egil controversy of 99-00.
He WAS a part of why we went down, and that's that. Anyhow, Anyone
comin' to the Radio Five Live thing at Wimbledon Rugby club to quiz

Nice Girl C - excited? Hmm, sounds nice.
But give up on the Nog tactics - they didn't work for us and should
have been dropped at Christmas time. But EO (cunt) was so bloody
dogmatic that he had to stick to his beloved tactical nonsense, never
mind the fact that the players he had couldn't work with it. Oh, and
another thing - if our Nog players are so good, how come NONE of them
played yesterday?

Can someone tell me if Norway was
playing 4-5-1 with Iverson and Solskjaer as wingers, Flo and Carew as
the "target" man and the zonal defense, 80 minutes of extremely low
pressure etc yesterday? And can someone confirm to me that Norway beat
Spain yesterday? Can someone also convince me if these are not the
tactics one Mr Egil Olsen tried so hard to convince our crybabies ((c)
REPD) that if adopted probably is difficult to beat by any team? I rest
my case, my Lord.

After waking up at 2.45AM to catch the
England game, I can't help but feel extremely sorry for myself. Should
have stayed in bed instead. What a bunch of tossers on the pitch.
England deserved to lose and honestly, there's no way England can make
it to the second round. Oh, and how clever to play BOTH Neville
brothers AND Seaman...what a laugh...WHAT A LAUGH!!

Actually, I am currently pissing myself

were Beckham and Scholes, the rest would embarass even us. Man, I need

I have stated on these pages before what
a complete and utter tosser Emile Heskey is, but I cannot believe that
Keegan has too been fooled by this talentless cretin and given him half
a game for England tonight! To the list of crap players on show
tonight, add Phil Neville, Tony Adams, Sol Campbell, Paul Ince, Alan
Shearer and David Spunk. Anyone who thought Drillo was tactically naive
should thank their lucky stars that he didn't have this bunch available
to choose from!

I can explain one of the penalties,
Referee Collina (the Italian Kojak) wanted to please a stadium full of
Dutchies and get to ref the final, and did so by giving the softest
penalty ever seen in International football. (well the softest ever
seen since the Italian one!)

How could the refs give penalties in the
Italy v Turkey and Netherland v Czech Republic games? The Italians were
diving all over the place and the Turks were hard as fuck (except the
goalie who is well doubious). And their No. 5 and No. 3 are the best
central defenders I've seen for a long long time!! And the Czechs,
played with passion aplenty and the penalty, well dodgy again. I wonder
if honesty has any bearing in football anymore cos as far as I can see,
a teams has a better chance of winning if the diving strategy is
employed.....

Holland don't play England during the tournament, (iii) England avoid
Turkey (and any other type of poultry) and (iv) England win the
