NOTE: Don't try any funny
stuff like trolling, flloding and other such internet-related abuse.
My own comments were not related to TW13's
specifically, just a general view on current idiocy..You still don't want to find out why. REPD SM4 - Friday, 29 August 2003 at 19:53:41 read what tw13 actually wrote: "who was the 1 person to actually do well out of the franchise/afc saga, and land a 30K+ salary and as many free drinks in the bar as they can handle (attendance at all matches obligatry)?" think ive seen the last bit recently in a job advert. dunno but may it not the chairman refered to? another anonymous twat twatville - Friday, 29 August 2003 at 19:28:24 One final thing : we are coming very close to destroying the goodwill created last year within AFCW due to people's egos getting the better of them, together with some subtle (and less than subtle) positioning. Assuming of course that hasn't been destroyed already. How long has it taken us to get to this stage? 15 months? Hardly bodes well does it? There are some serious attitude adjustments needed ATM, I suppose I'm one of them, but somehow this whole thing will just rumble on and rumble on until a major black hole stares at us and we wonder why we didn't act sooner. No, we haven't got a Hammam/Koppout/MK scenario in our ranks - at least I hope we haven't - but you only need to look at how the stadium fundraising has stopped dead in its tracks to realise that all ain't what it should be. Anyway, I'll shut up now, like I suppose I ought to, and just piddle while Rome burns. As usual. REPD Can you tell I'm not in a very good mood? - Friday, 29 August 2003 at 18:10:03 Whilst I'm on one : there is sniping at AFCW people, Dons Trust etc etc. The last time I remember any of this happening was when the Official Supporters Club was on its knees due to some serious infighting and seriously iffy bits of revisionism. Although it ultimately helped WISA to form, it did nobody any good as the moves to set the club (WFC) away from its roots were starting to turn at that stage. So, what is going on? There's going to be a DT thing tomorrow at 10am, I'm not going as I hate those sort of things. The DT itself is reportedly going through some seriously vicious infighting ATM and I have to say, if I hadn't renewed my membership I wouldn't have bothered rejoining. And I suspect quite a few others are feeling the same as me, sadly it doesn't seem "correct" to air these grievences in a public forum. I really cannot see how this is all going to end without a permanent split in ranks. The sad thing is, this is all totally and depressingly predictable... REPD Feeling the need to get some things off his chest and add to the backbiting atmosphere - Friday, 29 August 2003 at 17:58:58 There is a lot of stirring going on, and a bit of un-warranted aggressiveness about, not only from the anonymous people but some "named" people as well. Why it's happening, I have honestly no idea. Whether it's because we've got too little to complain about ATM, whether it's because everyone is adjusting to a "normal" season for the first time since 1991 or whether it's the old "big beast in jungle" mentality (IYSWIM) rearing its ugly head I don't know. But let's face it, anyone reading various things this last couple of weeks would be put off doing anything for AFCW. Some of the comments by certain people could REALLY put you off doing anything for AFCW. REPD Signing his name and awaiting the flack - Friday, 29 August 2003 at 17:08:16 TW13 is a cunt. I am getting really pissed off with the snidey shitty fucking measly minded low life that seems to have nothing better to do than stir up aggro. The sooner they (and they appear on that other guestbook too) fuck off the better. The Wizard of Oz Oz - Friday, 29 August 2003 at 13:59:02 Yep, and Kris is doing a totally shite job isn't he? Some people. Martin D This guestbook is plumbing new depths - Friday, 29 August 2003 at 11:47:46 TW13 - urm, dunno. Who could you mean? REPD Seem to get some older faces coming out of the woodwork on here.... - Wednesday, 27 August 2003 at 15:52:38 just a quick 1, who was the 1 person to actually do well out of the franchise/afc saga, and land a 30K+ salary and as many free drinks in the bar as they can handle (attendance at all matches obligatry)? hmmmmm.... tw13's army - Wednesday, 27 August 2003 at 15:04:22 cheers repd, almost feels like I went with the report and text updates. Florida Axe Murderer Dallas, Texas - Friday, 22 August 2003 at 04:56:21 OK im not trying to start a conspiricy thing here but i feel that we as a club have to look to the future and the reserves can be used as a springboard to that ,,, Sim was a good player not great but good ,, however he may have been good in time but when he is disloged by roger joespeh whats going on ,, i mean its good roger is at the club but he is hardly the vision of the future is he ,,??? but a young center half why not play him ,, ok he may be crap,, then ditch him ,, there is no promotion or relgation from the reserves ,, is there ?? so why the are we playing keith ward , and dave fry ,,if there first team chances are know zero they should leave ,, not people like lee passmore ,, surley we must use the reserves to try people out ,, no it just seems to me a resting place for terrys mates thats all i was saying nothing to heavy no conspircy just my own obersavation ,, i may be wrong im a long long way from home , i just get this feeling thats all ,, i like terry i think he has done a good job but with the squad we have we should not be happy with a 3-2 last night against one of the so called poorer teams ,, i think terry should be knighted for what he has done but i think that he is limited in what he can do know , he seems to be surrounding himself with freinds when we should be thinking of looking elsewhere trying new blood , wade falana ????? my mate told me he is 31 , and damn poor ,, i dont know but we ought to be thinking ahead of this season , are our current players good enough for the ryman ,, i dont know ,, but should we be now thinking and this is harsh ,, keith ward , roger , dave fry , do we need them in the squad and winning in the reserves when we could be trying kids and maybe finding a talent ,, you can say we have a youth policy ,, i agree but we dont at under 16 or 18 ,, i may not be making sense here but you may get my drift . anyway im at work better be off ,, hey sacremento is nothing like burnley ,, when was the last time you saw a walking mullet with a tash singing steve earl songs ,, any dons fans coming over let me know ,, i will buy you a beer ,, just bring me a programme,, and beat southall boys ,, Dave ( The guy in sacremento ) umm sacremento - Thursday, 21 August 2003 at 20:35:38 Why does a frannie fan have a rather good afc site? I know they are looking for a new reporter etc but surely someone could throw a few words together to keep those of us that can't always manage the 500 mile round trip up-to-date. Devon Don England's Little Switzerland - Tuesday, 19 August 2003 at 17:46:00 Right that's it. I'm going home. Tudor i need sleep - Tuesday, 19 August 2003 at 17:15:20 Whats that about tearing people apart? Florida Axe Murderer Dr. Cripen Museum - Tuesday, 19 August 2003 at 16:41:37 Keeping quiet ATM as everyone else seems to be doing the usual Dons fans thing of tearing each other apart. Methinks we need something to protest about. As for the whole thing about power etc, I will simply quote what David Barnard once told me : Footballers think differently to everyone else and they don't react in the way you want if you start interfering. For on-field matters, I really think we should let TE etc sort it out between them. REPD Going to Los Angeles in December - Tuesday, 19 August 2003 at 09:50:04 Bloody hell Sacramento Don, I was in Sacramento on Friday night. Sacramento is paradise compared to Fresno. Loads of '74 Buicks running around with geezers glaring at you. Bit like Burnley. Florida Axe Murderer Back in Dallas, TX - Tuesday, 19 August 2003 at 04:23:53 Had to pop in here to get away from the nonsense and mayhem of that other guestbook. The gainsayers and malcontents seem to be holding sway. And then would you believe up pops another one from Sacramento. Just where do people get the idea that there is a culture of Terry Eames. Conspirators abound. What a load of crap. Give the monkeys the asylum and you can't keep the noise down. We are currently unbeaten in about 12 games and still people stir the pot. What's the matter with them? The Wizard Oz - Monday, 18 August 2003 at 13:34:41 Alright its time a discussion was finally made about two things that are bugging me from over here in my little house in sacremento .. No its not why i have moved thousands of miles away from london to live in what is arguably the biggest industrial town in the whole of the state (( the sewerage capital of california ))but A) As a season ticket holder ( why i dont know going to a saturday game is nigh on fucking impossible ) i would like to know why craig sallas who was given just a few seconds to prove himself was allowed to leave even though he was good enough to play in his home countries premier lge and had countless clubs here chasing him but wanted to play for us . 2) why is a culture of terry eames and his mates emerging at the club it is becoming apparant that unless you are in his click then you are out sim johnson is the latest to be outed , and is the terry eames mate culture what was responable for the trigger saga ,, people have said thar trig went due to differences ,, its becoming apparant from what im told that trig wanted to try new blood, which pissed off terry who wants to have his mates in our reserves ,, maybe im barking up the wrong tree, after all im a long way from home right now,, love to hear your views , right i ought to be going to kip ,,,,, sacremento exciled Don sacremento - Sunday, 17 August 2003 at 11:43:34 Mark - oops, thank you for mentioning that. I can now reveal this : SW19 should be changing servers soon (how soon is "soon" I dunno) which means that for the main site you won't be getting popups. However, as I want to add about one or two new features, I am going to drop the Chat facility. Nobody appears to use it these days, I sure as hell don't... Thank you kindly for the documented proof that franchise are still using the coat of arms we have previously told them they are no longer allowed to use. I have no idea how much it cost you to get such proof, but I reckon if it cost you £20 it was money well spent. Oh, I understand that due to some article or other that lots of your fans will now not be going to Shitehurst to say goodbye, and that also it pissed off lots of the franchise scum. Good work whoever was involved. College of Arms I am not REPD by the way - Thursday, 14 August 2003 at 17:02:11 Tudor - at the end of the day, Franchise is more or less irrelevant. I will hardly be mentioning them in my reports now unless they do something that surpasses everything. REPD God help me if I ever did an undercover report of a game *in* Milton Keynes - Thursday, 14 August 2003 at 16:34:14 John - it's very easy to work out what I was doing then base a windup on that. REPD Thought I was barred from KM anyway for thinking the "Fans Stadium" is a stupid name :) - Thursday, 14 August 2003 at 16:25:43 How can this be a windup, (repd)you were seen at SP by that loyal Don idiot and what"s more you were seen making a hasty exit just before halftime which you admited to,the actions of a guilty man. your role at Kingsmeadow must be under review. However, we had spent a large proportion of last season asking away fans not to go - not that I'm accusing you of being a (disloyal) company man. Maybe I feel differently about this season cause the point's been made - plus we know quite a few of those going to SP were hopping between WFC and AFCW games. Not expecting any justification out of all this. Do what thou will, after all. I don't know - I'm not that interested in the cunts any more, I suppose. The damage is done (to what used to be our club - not you turning up, I mean). I'm going to stop here cause I doubt I'm making much sense. Tudor mega catch up on posts - Thursday, 14 August 2003 at 14:56:50 Anyone else getting the impression that disLoyal Don is an AFCW fan on a wind-up? REPD SM4 - Thursday, 14 August 2003 at 12:20:01 'Loyal' don. Can you tell us when you are moving to MK please. I must inform the authorites that new name must be added to a certain register... if you know what I mean. 90,000 kids in MK need protecting, say no more. Police every fucking where - Thursday, 14 August 2003 at 12:15:14 'Loyal' don. Can you tell us when you are moving to MK please. I must inform the authorites that new name must be added to a certain register... if you know what I mean. 90,000 kids in MK need protecting, say no more. Police every fucking where - Thursday, 14 August 2003 at 12:15:09 "Loyal"Don, I wouldn't pride yourself on creating anything of any note, let alone division amongst us. And with your attitude I doubt you'll be welcome at "Traitorsmeadow". When is your move to MK? I hope you enjoy singing amended Chelsea and West Ham songs with the couple of hundred deluded MKers - if the club ever make it up there of course. Martin D Seeing the wood for the trees - Thursday, 14 August 2003 at 11:33:01 Ha,Ha,Ha, seems Ive created some sort of division amoungst the Afc ranks regarding your Selhurst visit last week. Ive decided to return the favour and do a little research of my own and visit Traitorsmeadow for the game against Merstham next week.I will be taking observations to see what all the fuss is about. Im sorry to say Im only giving you only £8 donation rather than the generous £20 Repd forked out.It should be a laugh if nothing else.I will post my report on a site in the upcoming weeks so be warned. Yours Lovingly, The Loyal Don Loyal Don The One and Only - Thursday, 14 August 2003 at 10:47:50 I agree with Lancashire Lass, but i dread what the Loyal Don will hit us with next ( He"s been quiet off late) John Raynes Park - Thursday, 14 August 2003 at 09:14:10 Fed up with all this holier-than-thou ranting about ONE visit to SP. I'm all in favour of principles, but wars were never won by being too purist. REPD was gathering information. Sometimes you have to pay for that, either in monetary terms or by briefly associating with something you would rather not touch with a bargepole. As far as I can see, the results were worth it, for the reasons he's stated. Lancashire Lass Not Lancashire - Wednesday, 13 August 2003 at 20:31:45 MD - damage? Oooh, anyone passing for a start. People been put off. Plenty said about it so it obviously must have some importance. REPD Impossible to over-state the sanctimony of certain people - Wednesday, 13 August 2003 at 16:11:09 Not being funny mate, but exactly what damage do you think you article has done to Franchise? Is it getting published in a national daily or something? I think you over-state its (and your) importance just a tad. Martin D No match report? Bloody Spurs fan ;o) - Wednesday, 13 August 2003 at 15:42:20 Couple of other things to get off my chest over this. One, some say that paying the entrance fee is helping them. OK, now think of the damage that the article has done to Franchise. Far greater. Again, Wankelmann is trying to get into the NHS for a lower sum than what he promised, meaning he may not have as much money as he lets on. Secondly, and this is a more general and personal bugbear against AFCW : at times, the comments can be a little TOO dogmatic if people want to do things "outside the box" (and boy, does THAT comment offend people at times :) ). It does nobody any good and IMO does cut off avenues that can ultimately help AFCW. Worth a thought. REPD Also has a Franchise vs Crewe programme as given to him last night - dear oh dear... - Wednesday, 13 August 2003 at 13:58:37 Dave - since when was writing a report slagging Franchise off colluding with them? Seriously, read the article properly. Franchise's problems are too deep for a mere £20 to bail them out : in fact it probably didn't even cover the cost of the Admin taking a piss before writing their pro-MK articles. As said before, my article HAS put the curious people off who would have otherwise gone, it was an article itching to be written (and would have been written last year believe it or not). I don't mind giving people like disLoyal Don ammo, from the replies from every single Franchise fan has proven, they can't argue articulately against us so resort to Koppelesque name calling. They just confirm in print what the world thinks of them. Anyway, John is right - it was research. REPD Can't be arsed to do a Whyteleafe report - sorry - Wednesday, 13 August 2003 at 13:52:01 Ok mabye he shouldn't have gone, but we must not be too hard on the chap,he did say he was doing research and that is good enough for me. John Raynes Park - Wednesday, 13 August 2003 at 13:27:37 Who cares? I care!! I don't want to see any AFC fans collaborating with the enemy over in Selhurst or doing them any favours by paying them money to watch the tossers.Your giving twats like Loyal Don ammo to use against us Dave Esher, Surrey - Wednesday, 13 August 2003 at 13:10:27 The clash was given added spice by some inflammatory programme notes written by local hack Dave Peters, who used his page to slam the Dons’ move to Milton Keynes. REG DAVIS COME BACK ALL IS FORGIVEN!!!! HA! HA! HA! Wycombe Programme Adams Park - Tuesday, 12 August 2003 at 22:35:32 You went to Selhurst? Who cares. It's a free world. I get more than a little pissed off by people who criticise if you go. If you had good reason then you have no need to defend yourself. Sounds like the same bunch of tossers who criticise when Kris Stewart is made chairman or CCL 'Fix' the fixtures or the weather is too hot or Glentoran dare to play Franchise or 442 interview Koppel. Frankly, if I lived in England I guarantee I would have been to see them at least once just to view the death throes of the corpse. Doesn't mean I don't support AFC W.. Closure for me too.. The Wizard Oz - Tuesday, 12 August 2003 at 14:08:33 Also, there have been a couple of people (mainly on freebies, and only a couple) who have gone and watched Franchise within the past 12 months. All hated it, none of them would go again, and chances are, like me they find anyone who chooses Franchise over AFCW as complete idiots. REPD As for Sutton, well, do you think I was going to miss a CCL game? - Tuesday, 12 August 2003 at 13:02:03 Dave - doing it so that nobody else would be tempted to do so. There were bound to be a few curious people this season at AFCW who probably just wondered what a Franchise game must have been like - the fact that after my report at least one person said that they don't need to go down there out of sheer curiosity proves it worked. I'm not going to do it again, and the fact it's pissed off Franchise fans shows how successful it was REPD Ought to issue a press release - Tuesday, 12 August 2003 at 12:58:15 What the hell were u doing at Selhurst on Saturday REPD? You should of been cheering us on at Sutton. As for spending £20 to watch those bunch of tossers, I wouldn't of given them the priviledge. Dave esher surrey - Tuesday, 12 August 2003 at 12:41:26 that scott peasey didnt sound to upbeat with his comments in the observer yesterday about franchise. my monies on another AFCW supporter there when they fuck off to the nhs (if ever) petejake - Monday, 11 August 2003 at 20:14:14 Enjoyed the page. anabel <anabel> - Monday, 11 August 2003 at 19:04:58 Good site, keep up the good work. samuel <samuel> - Monday, 11 August 2003 at 19:04:57 Oh, and £20 is hardly likely to solve Franchise's massive debts anytime soon. That money probably covers the 2 minutes it took the Admin people to sell Connelly... REPD Trying to explain the truth is getting a tad boring... - Monday, 11 August 2003 at 17:31:11 £20 to get the chance to humiliate you and your team in print? Bargain I would suggest.... REPD He just doesn't get it does he - Monday, 11 August 2003 at 17:14:28 Cheers for the £20 donation REPD (Ticket Cost)every bit helps.Shame though, it would been more helpful being spent on your soft drinks can campaign. lol Loyal Don The One and Only - Monday, 11 August 2003 at 16:43:36 Yes, that was me leaving the Crewe end before half time. I did it with dignity, honour and a knowing that I had done my job of finding out first hand what a complete bunch of idiots Franchise fans are. That's the difference between us AFCW fans and yourself : you're so stupid that the highlight of your week is to try and make capital out of someone who went in purely to expose you and Franchise in the pathetic light that you are. And guess what? I succeeded. Sad thing is, you really believe the "turncoat" stuff that Koppout told you to believe (because you sure as hell can't think for yourself). Now, run along little boy, don't try and make a fool of yourself in front of the AFCW grownups. REPD Don't worry, I have no need to return to SP - Monday, 11 August 2003 at 16:13:17 Oh it was you we saw then Mr REPD, legging it off over the fence just before half time, we thought we recognised you.Did your cover get blown that you had to leave in a haste? Loyal Don The One and Only - Monday, 11 August 2003 at 16:06:10 "Knee's"? No wonder you're still at Selhurst Park if you're as stupid as you are illiterate! Don't forget you'll definitely be in the Hockey Stadium in October (despite still no work started on it). Write it in your Mr Men diary now as I wouldn't want you to miss it. Intelligent Don - Monday, 11 August 2003 at 15:29:51 Ah, I've missed the deluded rantings of the confused and tortured soul laughably calling himself "Loyal Don". Shame he/she/it has no concept of the word "turncoat" otherwise he wouldn't use it. REPD http://www.wisa.org.uk/cgi/l/articles/index.cgi?action=show&id=376 - don't get excited now - Monday, 11 August 2003 at 13:39:59 Yep, we're back and are currently 3rd in Div 1 (play-off Spot) and looking to push for promotion this season.Glad to see old boy Holdsworth spearheading our campaign this season and he recieved at warm welcome back on saturday. It was a joy to be sitting with the 500 other loyal Dons in the stand, we spotted a handful of turncoats who later ran for cover over the high fence to hide their shame. We might be prepared to allow a few turncoats back in, just as long as they crawl into the ground on their hands and knee's kissing the floor. Lol Loyal Don The One and Only - Monday, 11 August 2003 at 13:09:59 SW19 Sutton report, with guest writer, now up SW19 Info Service SM4 - Saturday, 9 August 2003 at 22:52:42 Very impressive! sonia <sonia> - Saturday, 9 August 2003 at 18:31:03 Great site elton <elton> - Saturday, 9 August 2003 at 18:31:02 Good site! martina <martina> - Saturday, 9 August 2003 at 18:31:01 IMO, I don't think OF coverage will extend much further than what it does already. It's pretty big anyway. Now, given that newspapers are giving coverage to people finishing third, there is obviously a market out there for non-OF teams, and once the OF-to-the-Prem euphoria dies down, there will be a gap in the coverage.... REPD SM4 - Friday, 8 August 2003 at 23:31:12 Exactly, the Scottish press will give far more coverage to Chelski 0 Rangers 5, and Celtic 1 Wolves 2 than to East Fife 4 Forfar 5! REPD Surprised Bas Don hasn't come on here yet - Thursday, 7 August 2003 at 12:01:34 Perhaps if the Old Firm paid their debts and copied the German model (i think!) of not being able to buy players unless in the black the league would least start to even out a little. Other things like a restriction of squad size, certain amount of 'home grown' players, foreign 'internationals' ONLY, and other things to stop Celtic and Rangers getting out of hand. I am totally against the OF joining BUT I still find it bizarre that I do when there are three Welsh teams. Either we kick them out and have done with it or we consider the Old Firm. You say money will talk but money always talks and honestly I would find it exciting. And I know Hammam is a little shyster but the thought of a Premiership with Cardiff, Rangers, Celtic, etc.. is more than a little interesting. Would perhaps stop the inevitable reign of Chelski... Leamington Pete - Thursday, 7 August 2003 at 01:28:36 Thing about the SPL is this. The OF taking over the vast majority of press coverage cripples the rest of the league, remember that all the clubs bar the OF withdrew (or threatened to withdraw) from the SPL due to TV rights, which they felt was slanted in favour of the OF. Now, the OF could easily survive in the Prem, and as the Celtic bloke said, there's a lot of resistance by the medium and small fry of the Prem (who are bigger than most proper "small" clubs) to protect their own interest. The fact is, if these clubs are well run enough, they won't see the likes of the OF as a threat. Now, as for the remainder of the Scottish League, I've mentioned the parallels with the Eircom league, which has this year switched to summer football and is enjoying a little bit of a resurgence. Cork City par example get decent crowds of 5k, which wouldn't be embarrasing in Scotland. Only one Eircom player plays for the national team, but that is ultimately irrelevant. The SPL free from OF constraints (remember I mentioned the TV deal) can negotiate for its clubs, everyone would be on a more level playing field and it will make the league much more competitive. And a competitive league generates more general interest. Money ultimately rules, and the OF, the English Prem and the SPL and its clubs are all doing it for their own interests. It's not worth complaining about IMO, football ceased to be sport eons ago. REPD Wondering what football is on tonite - Wednesday, 6 August 2003 at 17:51:00 I agree - but this was the opinion of all the clubs, and the various top table people (inc one SPL board member I think). I was totally surprised - it was obvious everyone involved in footie north of the border thinks it's a good idea. Ronan - Wednesday, 6 August 2003 at 17:38:18 Rones, two different issues there I think. No doubt removing the Old Firm would make the league more competitive, but does that make it "better" or benefit Scottish football? I'm sure removing Man United, Liverpool and Arsenal from the Premiership and into a European Super League would make that league more competitive and enable the relaxation of ground criteria for smaller clubs, but it would massively damage the profile and revenue of the entire Prem. Letting the Old Firm leave just seems like an admission of failure and acceptance that Scottish football is in hopeless decline to me. Martin D Not letting undesirables like you into the main stand area ;o) - Wednesday, 6 August 2003 at 15:58:00 Re: old firm, when I went to the SD conference up in scotland, the whole issue of them leaving for english football was discussed. Everybody there agreed it would actually be good for the SPL, and scottish football in general. Didn't make much sense to be, but the feeling seemed to be making the league more competitive, and changing the minimum ground criteria, so other clubs who are good enough to play in the SPL can finally get promoted without having to spend millions on their grounds. Money, that's what. And you are advocating taking the two biggest teams out of a competition and something like 75%(?) of the fans with all the subsequent massive drops in interest, advertising and sponsorship revenue that will inevitably cause for the SPL. And who will get this extra revenue? The wonderful Premiershit that you profess to hate. It is no coincidence that the only people who keep pushing for this are Old Firm fans and the businessmen behind those clubs. Ask Aberdeen fans and their finance director what they think. I'm sure they'd love to lose 5,000 paying away fans four times a season. If you take the Old Firm out of Scottish football, it will continue its already steady decline into total obscurity and become just like the Irish league. Martin D And what domestic cups will they play in? I would assume that an OF-free SPL would still have some sort of Champions League entry. As for the shares versus bonds or loans argument, I thought I had already explained why shares were chosen? Shares are good for the club, but a "bad" investment for us. Bonds and loans are the opposite. We were told by numerous banks that they would not consider ever lending us funds to cover the remaining portion of the ground purchase price (or for future projects) whilst we had such considerable existing debts (as bonds or loans would be treated). Equally I remain of the belief that it was wrong for the board to do so without consulting their electorate. Yes we elected a board we didnt elect them to make ALL decisions and some are so fundamnetal they should be made by the membership. In my job I can't call a strike my members have to vote on it my role is to chose the date and the strategy. That is the relationship that should exist betwen the Trust membership and the Trust board policy making(membership) policy implimentation(Board). As for profits - I'd prefer dividends were not paid. But it raises an interesting point which I have to jump upon (with typical ronan zeal) - the survey/pledges expressed a preference for an investment with a return. I don't see how that results in a share issue decision - as bonds and loans both give that. I suppose the crux of my beef is I'm not convinced by any of the arguments backing (a) a share issue, and (b) a share issue in the football team. On the subject of dividends, I wonder if it's possible to refuse them? :-) Ronan - Tuesday, 22 July 2003 at 17:07:00 MD - "I suppose I can understand it given the years of lies and deceit that characterised the old club". Without trying to be sarky, I'm glad you've finally got that bit. Can't speak for anyone else, but when I hear comments like "I'd like us to be back in Merton but..", or "We'll never get back" it just reminds me of what Hammam used to say to justify his inaction. Whenever I hear "Ks is our home now" by some people, I'm reminded of the sort of phrases that were used when Selhurst was being coveted. I could go on, but you see my problem. I'm occasionally, OK sometimes, OK often, OK usually accused of being pessimistic, but when I see things that just smell even remotely familiar, that's when my distrust starts. REPD Fully aware that this is all an amateur organisation running as professionally as it can. - Tuesday, 22 July 2003 at 17:03:40 Rob, you wouldn't be the first person to be disillusioned by democracy mate. Martin D But at least everyone can get to have their say and it's better than the traditional alternative (some rich bloke deciding everything) - Tuesday, 22 July 2003 at 17:01:52 Personally, I hate finding anything wrong with the current setup (which probably explains why I get so upset about it) - but I don't go looking for issues - I unfortunately have a natural ability at finding problems which has been used to full effect in my career. However, as annoying as somebody jumping up and down shouting 'ERROR!!!!' is, i do believe it is in the greater interest of everyone that somebody does it. The personal pain in the neck is that I'm one of the people that does it - with the inevitable label of a trouble maker. Or worse, I'm stupid enough to air other peoples views when they are afraid to do it themselves. But I'm slowly learning not to do the latter. Ronan - Tuesday, 22 July 2003 at 17:00:56 Ronan, therein lies the rub. What happens to any "profits" will be decided by the DT board, not the minority shareholders. The prospectus (and us) have very clearly pointed out that small dividends will only be paid to shareholders IF it is the best interests of the club. Almost all investors *never* expect to receive them, but if we are really successful (or say we get a massive draw in the cup etc.) people may get some return on their investment. You seem to think our shareholders will demand some sort of return, whereas I think that is not only unlikely, but also they have no power to make it happen. Martin D - Tuesday, 22 July 2003 at 16:59:56 MD - yes, the two ARE related, though not in the order you're suggesting. Just can't help feeling that these meetings ultimately go nowhere, certainly feel de-motivated after them. I *did* go to the SGM by the way, and the "setupon" guy was just the typical whinger you expect at these meetings. Nothing untowards, they're annoying but it's also part of democracy. REPD Has done very little work today, and instead spent it planning his trip to Glasgow - Tuesday, 22 July 2003 at 16:57:47 re: ownership - to me it's crucial from the point of view of knowing all profits etc. go back into the club, and it being run under a democratic process. Now it is run firstly under company law, then the democratic process (dt). I won't go into the whole minority shareholder thing again for obvious reasons. As for experience, not in football clubs, but personal experience in three bond/loan/share issue arguments for small companies before, especially when it came to dealing with venture capital companies. (all companies went bust in the end btw!!! - but I wasn't running them :-) ) As for the medical student, no idea, but I do know it was discussed at a WISA meeting, and the opinion seemed to be if koppel ever did offer, we'd tell him to eff off, but see how much he was offering first. IMO, that's right, but I've no problem getting money from Saddam or Bin Laden - just not koppel. FWIW, Sam H. did offer to help (possibly financially - dunno) which came out of the DT/WISA good cop/bad cop routine over 'where's the 9m?'. As for Erik, I think it's safe to say that's the one subject everyone involved with AFC agrees on - he's a god. Ronan - Tuesday, 22 July 2003 at 16:52:42 |
