REPD and three others decided to travel to the Swindon v FFC to take on the hoards of FFC supporters in a massive brawl. With a plan to call on the help of the Swindon supporters in case they were outnumbered more than 200 to 1, the SW19 Army swatted the 16 FFC supporters like flies.

Florida : I'm transiting thru' your fair (?) city on the way to Tucson, so I shall wave out the window. I'm going to be in Miami for a couple of days at the end of August, so let me know where your shirt lives. I'm just back from the Windsor game and I'm encouraged. We actually played like a team and were probably the better team overall - just one silly mistake to lose 1-0. By the time we start the league campaign we may be sorted. The will have to call me AFC Wimbledon John now. If you are going to Ft. Lauderdale / Miami. I can tell you where you can see a genuine 1988 cup final shirt. One which will be joined by an AFC one soon.

I'm just off to Tucson for 2 weeks to work followed by 2 weeks in Florida on hols, so add me to the list of Walmart boycotters ... Can't we buy 250 acres near Milton Keynes and sell them to Walmart for £15 million ? That would finance our return to Plough Lane and shaft the Nogs where it hurts them the most - right up their bank balance ! PS where in Florida, John ?
Matthew

Not Walmart - Friday, July 26, 2002 at 14:52:04 (BST)

I just copied this from WISA chat - sounds very interesting: "mrMe wrote: : : Shouldn't we start targeting Walmart or at least apply some pressure and make them explain their role in the MK consortium ?? Just a thought.. : Excuse my ignorance, but what is their role? : Martin D --------------------------------------- (Well, I thought this was known to you fellows??) Gjelsten was interviewed by nog newspaper Dagbladet while he was boatracing in Trieste, Italy about a month ago (June 19th). The direct translation of what he said is: "The club has been handed a large area of land (about 200-300 acres) in Milton Keynes at a very small cost. The American retailer Wal-Mart is going to build a large shopping center using 25% of this land. The company must pay several hundred million Norwegian kroner (1£=12NOK)for the land. The main portion of this sum is targeted for the new stadium." So if this can be confirmed, then Walmart and/or their subsidiary in the UK; ASDA will be responsible for actually bankrolling the new MK stadium - if that doesn't call for a boycott, I don't know what will. --------------------------------------- mrMe"

Now I am fully aware that there hasn't been anything for either Bromley or Dulwich, that was deliberate. I want to do a few games without having to thing of ways to put it. Last season is still playing on my mind and I need a degree of respite. As you all know - and as LP's website mentions - I still haven't decided over all this. Most of whom I think would need to be rebuilt if they were to get regular crowds of 500-600. So I'm not being ignorant :) Oh, and CW - any chance of a spare? Go on, please? Please?

Just remembered - Viking Greenford's ground - you are not going to be able to get more than a couple of hundred people in there - it's really bad, coz there are trees a whole side of the ground, so nobody can get on that side to watch. And at Farnham's ground you can't go behind one of the goals!

Andy - I don't doubt that the other AFCW can handle it, never looked at the ground but it seems one of the better ones. Again though, I do confess to feeling a bit uneasy at some of the grounds with even 300-400 people turning up. I think there will be a few extras from other clubs, and if the AFC Wimbledon publicity machine gets it right, who knows? Please nobody think I'm being a killjoy, it's better to be cautious than complacent...

Our ground has held 1000 people before for a game with Wycombe Wanderers in the Vase in the 80s, and that was before our ground improvements. I think unless you suddenly get nationwide fans joining the boycott and an extra 2000 turning up instead of in MK there shouldn't be too much of a problem.....

CW - rather than give you a long diatribe about crowd safety and [most importantly] comfort, I'll explain my worst case scenario : fitting (say) 1000 people in RPV is possible. Wouldn't advise it but it's possible. Now, look at the surrounding areas. Fields, a lot of them. Not ideal to keep numbers "safe". Are there decent entrance/exit gangways, or can St Johns Ambulance deal in an emergency? These days, I probably WOULD suggest AFCW vs Man U would be moved from Plough Lane (sacriledge I know). Not being incorrect, not being patronising, just me being a pain in the arse...

Not at work and not bored - Tuesday, July 02, 2002 at 13:07:28 (BST)

Can't say I agree with your comments re security at opponents grounds. To get into the F.A.Cup, for example, you have to have a fenced off pitch and a concreted walkway round the ground, and given this 200 could easily be fitted round one side of the ground and 50 to a 100 behind each goal, basically any ground like this should be able to hold 500/600 people comfortably, thus your comments are at best incorrect and at worst patronising to the clubs involved. A Raynes park vale fan on WISA chat has said that their ground could hold 1000 and they've played Aldershot with crowds of that level a couple of times, and a glance at the record attendances indicates that these places can hold more than might be thought. It's as if Man U have turned up at Plough Lane and told us they're not playing there and we'll have to switch the game to Chelsea. What exactly are the security concerns you have(i.e worse case scenario?)

I've maintained this for a while now - and if somebody would listen I'd stop repeating it :) - but I can fully see loads of games being switched to nearby "better" grounds purely on safety grounds. They would need to do so on FA cup games, and having been around Raynes Park Vale on SW19 duty, getting more than 200 could be fun. We'll wait and see no doubt, but in the meantime, I fully await the new season..

Wondering where Wallingford is - Sunday, June 30, 2002 at 20:58:55 (BST)

A warm welcome from the other AFCW to the world of real football. It's not as bad as 'ropes around the pitch'. When we were in the Chiltonian League (one step downwards) it was literally rope around the pitch in the middle of a public park, the players put up the nets and the 'fans' were a bloke walking his dog and some kids playing footy nearby who kept slicing their ball onto the pitch. In this league we actually have walls and bars around the ground (gasp), and you might even find the odd sheltered stand and a few strips of concrete! joking aside, I haven't got a clue how you are going to get 1000 people into some of these grounds - you might need a policeman on a white horse. If your team is going to be as good as it sounds, then it looks like you will walk it, but in this league it's consistency that counts - you have to keep beating the poor teams week in week out (and most of them raise their game for you), then get the important results against the other big teams. Watch out for the other AFCW, Ash and possibly Feltham (who are rumoured to have come into some money). Have fun!!!!!

If you think MK is going to rip up a £3 millon artifical pitch in the hockey stadium, think again. This stadium is used 7 days a week, often until late at night, not only for hockey but also for many other sports and events, by all the schools and amateur associations in the city. Until a purpose built stadium is ready(about 3 to 4 years if they start to-night) the only practical place near here(MK) is to share with Northampton(who have agreed in principle). It seems highly unlikely that the Dons will move this season.

I was thinking along similar lines coming in to work. We could be the start of a new breed of Football Club. Actually not unlike how football clubs started, before they became picking grounds for the unscrupulous. Not only will we be lean and mean but we will be without the rats (Hammam and Koppel) and incompetants (Davis) that got us into this mess in the first place. Oh! And this powerhouse of a club in MK still has no manager less than four weeks from the start of pre-season. Koppel will be giving us a few more good laughs yet. Who will work with him, only somebody with the same lack of scruples as him.

SA - I think we needed a firm decision and we got it. Sadly not the one we wanted but there you are. There's a school of thought BTW (and one I fully subscribe to) that suggests that given the likely implosion of the Football League now, there will be a lot of clubs going under or being relocated. Not only will that mean a mass exodus of players, but a fit, lean and healthy club (like AFCW could and should be) can be quite near the Football League in future...

Anyone else thinking that the FA Comission decision last week was a blessing in disguise as it got people angry and motivated to do something (ie the "sit down I want to watch the game" brigade)? I have a nasty thought that if things were still to drag on, we would have lost due to apathy in the end. This way, we have a real achievable positive to work for, rather than a negative to work against.

My name is Edmund Marco and it's a pleasure to sign your guest book. I work for an advertising agency in London. Our agency represents direct marketing companies that are involved in the marketing of products as seen on TV in England. Most of the infomercial products come from the U.S. but then again we export our talents as well. My brother has appeared in infomercials in the U.S. advertising various products. I think it's hilarious that English people respond so well to American products while Americans tend to respond well to sales people who have an English accent! none.

This quote comes from a palace fan off the BBS board : "To be honest, I'm staggered by the laid-back response to this devastating news on here. The way the FA have sneaked this out under cover of the World Cup shows they know they have something to be guilty about. Koppell is a thief, stealing the heritage, future and passion of thousands of football fans. Couple of things : I wouldn't give £400 for Roberts. And as far as Roy Keane goes, his head is not straight at all. If he knew this shit was going to happen, he should have gone to Mick McCarthy before the trip out to the far East and said he wasn't going. Result? Turmoil in the Irish camp, only 22 players instead of 23 and plenty of unwanted column inches. Typical....

really sad to hear about the death of SW19s army rob. You did a top job with this site, u have something to be very proud of. I know this all sounds corny but it was ur site and w&ww that really kept me going through all this MK shit. Without them, I would almost certainly have packed it all in. REPD, sad to read about the imminent death of the site, I understand your reasons, but isn't this just what Koppell would like? Disillusion the nuisances and hopefully they will go away. Don't let him win, REPD. Take the summer off and think again. If you give up he would have won - just think, if it wasn't for all this MK nonsense would you be so disillusioned? Of course not, and you would be carrying on with the site. Fight on, don't give into the bastards.

NS/CUNW/MJS and everyone else - this is becoming almost as bad as the shit going down in the late 80s. Remember when Craven Cottage was sold to Marler Estates? Here's what I reckon : Koppout, Noades, Jordan and a couple of others (mentioning no names, ie Hammam) are all in on this MK thing. All of them want franchising to become a reality. Koppout for obvious reasons. Noades so he can sell Griffin Park AND Selhurst for loads of benjamins. Jordan so he can find a cheap bit of land. Far fetched? Maybe, but they once said that a football club in the UK would never try to move to a foreign country. Alarmist? I bet it ain't...

Jimmy Junkfood - don't I know you? - Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at 13:49:05 (BST)

Have you read the sun today "Burton lined up for axe" ? Involves a row over Peter Hawkins. Didn't meant to appear alarmist but I want to make the point that Uncle Ron can screw up dons, bees and palace . Bees are most vunerable whether they win promotion or not. I wouln't d put it past RN to liquidate bees and force a merger with dons.If the scheming one has done so already he will sell Griffin Park off to Wimpey-Barrett-safeways-buyright-golfworld. So when the Nogs decide to cut their losses in he steps to save the club. Hey Presto Two become one. Selhurst welcomes the west london superblue bees. Meanwhile SJ explores land in deepest Mertsham -Redhill Gatwick near Streete court ( where Ron happens to sit on a lovely plot of land with fishing and golf and 4 football pitches ).

And the state of the pitch. To summarize : on FL , his vision would be for a closer bridge between div 1 and the prem. ( prem div 2 - with Old firm- in all but name ) ; he supports your Charlie boy. U-turn in his attitude towards Ron - new found respect and would now be happy to do a deal with "Mr Burns". Mmmmm.

Palace are the 9th best team in London (behind Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, West Ham, Charlton, Fulham, Milwall and Wimbledon) and all their fans think they are a flippin massive club when really they are just a bunch of nobodies who have not won anything in modern history and certainly wont go anything near winning anything (apart from maybe the biggest waste of money of all time award) in my great grand kids lifetime) - Friday, April 19, 2002 at 21:51:26 (BST)

eh which fook-wit edited my last post ? I see tooting and mitcham will be moving into new 2000 seat ground in bishopford road ( LB of merton ? ). So your problem's solved then.

MJS how much you paying Hash? ns, there is a difference between keeping abreast of things and choosing a comfy spot in the corner and setting up permanent residence. Were you one of the 'wits' this season singing 'your gonnan get your fuckin eds kicked in'? Is anyone here going to renew a ST? Would anyone own up to it in the current circumstances? Still undecided but am leaning towards the boycott. Our group will decide once and for all on Sunday which must go down as one of the most irrellevant league games ever.

IMO both players will get better still and if Wilmott & Gier follow their example WFC should do pretty well defensivly over the coming years (if CK hasn't already fooked us)
