I have always liked this website, unlike Paul Raymonds 'pop around to yer Mum's for a cup of tea but no swearing' or Jonesey full of 'every bit of rubbish you can find in a dustbin' this one always reminds me of the bar in Star Wars, frequented by people with just a slightly different view on life to the normal. Andy's post was a complete time wasting, conspiracy theory load of drivel but perfectly suited to this site. I find it quite amazing that when Terry Eames is suspended that somehow it is the Board's fault. As far as I know (ok, AFAIK, but I am older than most here)when people are suspended or sacked it is usually for good reason. I seriously doubt that the decision to suspend Terry was taken lightly, and to criticise or insult elected Board memebers is really just a load of fucking unintelligent bollocks. And that Anne Eames really pisses me off. Strikes me that the Eames are like the Griswolds, those jolly full on family members who often embarass you but because they are family you smile and keep silent - until they fuck up, big time, which is probably what has happened here.Still, another day in the life of the mightiest little club in the world and a lot better than life in something romantically called Milton Keynes.

Pete - Thanks for your kind words. I certainly have a lot of sympathy with the two particular milestones you mention. I voted against the Kingsmeadow purchase as I really did not feel it was sold and the true questions/concerns (including the fact that the guy we were buying it off was both mugging us and exactly the kind of individual organisations like Supporters Direct want to see the back of), indeed it was this that very issue that last provoked me to express my views on this esteemed site. Nevertheless, democracy rules and though the manner in which the hole business was conducted and the way the fans were rushed into this path was not ideal I did accept I would have to support the wishes of the majority and have attempted to do my (albeit little) bit. As for the share issue, having spent several years on the left fringes of the Trade Union movement share options are not something I warmly subscribe to in most cases and again I do not feel comfortable with this. I think a good deal of good fortune has however kept the wheels on and in my more optimistic moments (believe it or not when I was compelled to write yesterday is included in this) I do believe it is not too late to turn it around and maybe we don't need to call in the AA just yes if we can find a couple of independent engineers not brainwashed by the concept of big business but who know what’s what. Whether somewhere amongst the newly elected DT Directors there lurks such a stalwart only time will tell but I fear to say he or she will have an up hill battle is a gross understatement. Still, we, the fans of AFC Wimbledon know what can be achieved. As alluded to in another fine cover piece by Rob the current AFC board must be on their guard. I will take any firm view on this issue until we either know the full facts or there is a clear and a sustained attempt by said individuals to keep these from us. To any official reading this my message is clear – your communication with the fans sucks, this is the latest in a long line of examples – get it sorted and do it fast! Rob, cheers for the info on what AE said – I have trouble finding anything on W&W but I am such a ludite when it comes to anything to do with IT. Keep up your good work on the site. Hopefully it took you less than 2 minutes to read this post.

Andy ....you refer to 'The wheels coming off' twice in your excellent summary of the situation......Might I suggest that the first wheelnut came loose with the decision to buy Kingsmeadow The remainder came loose with the share option go ahead. Its only a matter of time (unless we call the AA) before there is a gruesome accident

Andy - "The AE episode was weird (I would like to know where her comments can be read Rob)". Here's one of her comments as C+Ped from W&WW today : "The reason he was sacked was because he got rid of the services of Dwight who has been helping Terry with coaching but was requesting more money and Terry needed this money to bring in another couple of players and also Steve Brindley and Dobo Snr who have been helping out scouting etc. and helping set up more youth teams/kids teams for next year and Terry was told he didn't require these teams so Terry told them that he would not be requiring their services as the club wasn't moving forward in the direction he wanted. They were quite happy with this and said they would still help but would not get expenses. What is wrong with that - do you get sacked for something like that which is in the club's best interests. Something's not right somewhere. Anne of Eames cyberspace - Fri Feb 13 2004 10:49:23 "

Took me 5 minutes to read that last post - blimey - Friday, 13 February 2004 at 23:53:00

Well, having read Rob's comments and as usual he provides an excellent analysis of the possibilities from this situation. I am sure Dons fans all over the country will be in a state or shock - or will they? Those I speak to most regularly will know I have been increasingly uneasy about the goings on at the fans club and I do not think I am alone. The problem is that there are others around who look at us in envy waiting for the wheel to come off. They may be a minority of individuals and clubs but anyone who seriously believes we are the country’s number two team should just go and watch a few non-league games elsewhere, listen and learn. Those of us who do know this aspect that no official club publication will ever admit to will – as any devoted fan would – wish for harmony to reign supreme and for us to deny the vultures any pickings. The amount of secrecy that is centred around much of what goes on within AFC is at a level that if I was following a run of a mill team with an aloof board of business men as our directors I would be pissed off, let alone a club where us, the fans are all supposed to all be part owners. Information flow has been laughable on the most basic issues, communications - if critical - rarely get answered (never in my case) and frankly I am left wondering who is not performing their duties some of the time – the managers of affairs on the field or those off it. I am not getting at all the board in what follows, I know they are all committed and work hard, like any other aspect of the club I think some do a better job than others. I commented to the friend the other month (and if you do not already think I am mad you probably will after this) that the club was run like a small African dictatorship. You have the patriotic citizenship hypnotised by the magic of the Minister for Information (or should that be propaganda) and his team of spin-doctors, a message spread by the loyal subjects who would not think bad of their glorious leader even if he ate babies. The President gives himself a substantial cut of the clubs (oops – countries) cake without any democratic agreement of the masses, taxes of the ordinary people are gleefully collected and the populous are made to believe they are the luckiest people alive and most are bordering on the hysterical in their loyalty to the President. Meanwhile, any valiant young (or not so young) hero who dares show dissent to the powers at be faces exile or worse. OK - this is way OTT but there are one or two points in there that I know some people can and will relate to if they think about it carefully. Yes we have a very special club and we all feel proud to be a part of it but the culture, mood, atmosphere or whatever you call it, has as I say, has been worrying me. There has been something simmering under the surface for some time, just a gut feeling, I cannot explain it. I have told those I speak to most often, some think I am nuts but others agree (not that I am nuts but there is something not quite right). Fans are made to feel part of things but how often do we hand on heart come out of meetings thinking, "wow, I really feel like they told me all they could about that situation". I my humble opinion too many questions are straight batted in the style that the front bench in the House of Commons would be proud of. So, whatever has happened here with Terry (and on this occasion the Board my be 100% right and he may be 100% wrong), don't hold your breath for answers. I personally find it difficult to buy why a slightly more enlightening statement can be made now. It is just typical to try to hide behind some aspect of the law 99.9% of our fans no nothing about, when Gillingham sacked Pullis for ‘disciplinary matters’ for example Scully did not mince his words as I recall and there are plenty of other examples too. The AE episode was weird (I would like to know where her comments can be read Rob) and I would share Rob’s view that the Colne match could have something to do with it too. However, whatever the reason, the Board certainly better have a dammed good reason. Without knowing what Terry has allegedly done (and I could look a real jackass for saying this if he put farting powder in the match officials tea or something equally heinous crime) I really feel for the bloke. I saw him at Carshalton on Monday night and he seemed his usual jolly self. He and his wife have - as I see it - put everything into this club (clearly not only them but you could not have asked from more commitment from where I am sitting or standing in fact). He has given up his job and aside from having to go to Carshalton all in the love of AFC has attracted a very good squad of players to what any fans who watch non league football in other leagues will know is a fairly low standard of football (you just look how long most teams in the CCL stayed in the FA Cup and Vase compared to other leagues at level 8). Yes, there is a buzz to play in front of 3,000 when you are used to less that 1/20 of that when playing for a team two levels above as Harvey was when at Ford. Still, getting players of such standard to come to us and commit as they have will have required the gift of the gab – he has that. He may need this if there is an investigation and if it is internal I hope the board can work out how it will also provide for a fair hearing. Whatever the case, all of us must be 110% behind Nicky English and the Boys tomorrow. The will be shell shocked, all of them (well I imagine they will anyway) and we got to get that 100th league goal and another three points closer to our first major trophy (what a pity we were pulled from the Cherry Red last season BTW - another democratic decision for which the club gave a very weak explanation!) By the way, I seriously hope that this ‘official statement’ is true and TE has been suspended as opposed to sacked. If not they will owe a lot of us fans an answer to what might prove to be one question too many. There again - maybe what the guy who managed to keep his comments to a single line in explaining all this was correct. Time will tell - or will it? Whatever, as I read elsewhere we have all been through much worse than this and we will get through this. In spite of my comments anyone waiting for the ‘wheel to come off’ we the fans will ensure that don’t happen and this phoenix will keep rising up the leads – no individual is bigger than the spirit that is our club. That’s my say for the next 6 months

Loyal Cock: Let us look at the facts. Your beloved Franchise have 16 games left. Last season 50 points was needed, to survive in Div.1. Now that means that franchise need to win 10 of those games and draw 2 to achive that points total. Therefore they can only afford 4 more losses (West Ham, Ipswich etc. anybody?), before they start to need snookers. Best you can hope for is to avoid the wooden spoon, you sad loser.

Nah, I'm Cork born and bread. Became half interested in the Dons from '88 and it started to become an obsession through the 90's. I've been to Selhurst a number of times (the last one being the 3-1 beating of the Pikey's in 2001). To be honest I got a tad disillusioned after the whole MK thing although I've been following AFC through your match reports! Hope to make it to Kingsmeadow at some stage...mainly so I can say I was at a CCL game while sitting in the San Siro watching AFC in the Champs league in 15 years time!

I got bollocked by Weird and Wonderful World lovers for saying that Matt Martin looked a disaster today(Colne game) every time the ball flew in the box from a cross or cornhas all over the place,my heart was in my mouth,he just doesnt instill confidence,I didnt blame him for the goals, but WandWW people don't like constructive criticism, when I used to watch us at Selhurst we had a woeful full back-Gary Elkins and he drove me mad,you couldnt slag him off though! the family next to me used to go mad, todays reaction reminded me of that,Gary Elkins was shit by the wayif you ever watch a repeat of Dalian Atkinson's goal of the season where he waltzed round our defence, the main culprit was Elkins

OK Loyal Dong I am now calm and compisssmentoss. The beauty of your posts and the other guys that followed that weird hybrid Hindenberg up the M40 is that not any of you, NONE OF YOU!!! NOT EVEN ONE SINGLE LITTLE BEFUDDLED HERBERT OF YOU have ever indulged in a little reality check. Here is the reality of our respective situations. I wonder if you could be so candid? I now follow AFC Wimbledon playing in a very low level of the footballing pyramid. I will support this fantastic team all the way up or down. I dont care!! Hackney Marshes or Plough Lane. Know why? Because I am really the Loyal Don. I have stayed loyal to the Wimbledon name. I have stayed loyal to the area to the history and tradition of all that I have cherished supporting Wimbledon since 1981. I thought it would be tough maintaining loyalty when we brought all the new players in and the management and behind the scenes team, but guess what it wasn't!!! It was a seamless transition thankfully with the new personel displaying the embodiment of all that has been good about us(Wimbledon) over the years. You? Well you have supported and advocated the insertion of a possible fatal disease into the game that we love. You have got behind businesmen who know nothing about football and followed blindly like a faithful but rather stupid mutt whilst they have driven the club we loved into the ground. You have condoned asset stripping, lies, theft and everything that is a direct opposite of all that football is about. And for what? You now support a team in administration!! A team clinging by the fingernails to the precipice of the first division trapdoor. A team that is based 60 miles away with nothing in common with the Wimbledon FC I used to support. A team that will soon change its name and lose the last vestiges of pretense that it does have anything to do with Wimbledon FC. A team that now draws smaller crowds than it once did when it resided somewhere near its community base. A team desperately selling any player that shows a modicum of potential just to keep their tired heads above water. A team that I for one and four thousand others are sad to acknowledge has done all this but also a little glad that they are no longer around to pollute the pure waters that the real Wimbledon team left behind still swim in. Listen mate, I'll be honest with you... despite your many attempts to ridicule what I now have, I can hand on heart honestly tell you that I AM happy. Despite your crowing I don't really believe you are at all. And my last thought for you is this. Despite all the nastiness that has happened between us, If and when you wake up one morning and discover the truth of your situation, well bygones mate. The door is open and you and yours will be welcome to step through and return to the Wimbledon fold. Thats a genuine sentiment! But if sadly as I suspect thats not the case...well I am going to enjoy wooping your sorry arses a few years from now!!!

I too agree that the Curry Royal is probably the best option in SW19 (however, does anyone remember the alledged cockroack incident listed in the Guardian some years a go !!??) - either way, the Green Chicken Chilli Massala is to die for. Never really did rate the Ahmed (poor Chicken Jalfrezi, Jan 2003) but the Broadway Tandoori is worth a visit even if it is just for the Brussel Sprout Bhaji ! The Sri Lankan place near Tooting Bdy does a mean Chilli Crab but your digestive system will never be the same again ! While we are on Curry, does anyone remember the name of the Curry House between the Farley and Shitehurst, near the mini roundabout ? Went there several times but never got to form a genuine opinion on quality due to those nasty bar staff in the TF forcing copious amounts of "Strong Continental Lager" (you know the one) down ones throat...

I totally concur with those advocating Curry Royal. It is the quality Indian cuisine in SW19. I even order lunch from there occassionaly and stink the office out. Having said that I have not tried Broardway Tandoori yet that seems the popular choice over on W&WW. Enjoyed BAT and thought we were unlucky not to win by a couple more. Why is it that most teams keep a freek on the bench?

LL: The Curry Royal will always be number one in my book. Always packed, but that is the sign of a good resturant. The one 4 doors down does not fill up. When I am in England 70-80% of my evening meals are taken there. Here in Dallas there is nothing to touch the place. I make do with what I can get. Let us not forget the Indonesian section of the menu, was always nice to tag one of those dishes on to a meal.

Tudor, just perhaps "someone" was responsible for the DT accounts and, for whatever reason, didn't get them sorted out on time, and "someone" else was responsible for the (more important TBH because of the amount of money we are talking about) AFCW PLC accounts and *did* get them done in time, only to fall foul of a very petty technicality revealed at the last possible moment and designed to make them look as silly as the other "someone". It all reflects badly on the entire board, but to blame the people who *did* get certain accounts done is a bit bizarre.

Albert Sqaure (spreadeagled in the laundrette) - Thursday, 4 December 2003 at 15:07:09

Last night's action in full. Some fans turn up. It's cold. Ash kick off. They piss about. We piss about. We force a few corners. We cross. We miss. We cross. Danny O bicycle kicks and hits the crossbar. Ooooh! That was close. We piss about a bit more. The ref gets bored and starts booking Ash players for having hissy fits. We shoot. We miss. We shoot a bit more. The goalie (ginger) blocks. The ref gets even more bored and books some AFCW players for professing a dislike for the round pink coconut ones you get in licorice allsorts. Half time. We kick off. The ball goes straight out of play. Ash piss about. We piss about...etc...etc... we shoot. Guess what. We piss about a bit more. Ash start falling for our offside trap. They like doing it so much they continue to be offside for the rest of the match. The ginger Ash goalie has been busy erecting a forcefield round the goal, so that even when he or his defenders can't block shots, they mysteriously go wide or blast over. The defenders have also been surreptitiously spreading vaseline on Coops, Frankum, Grays, and later on Scotties boots. I slowly lose the will to live. My cigar runs down to a nub. Ms Whittal decides to start reading her homeopathic book. My toes are cold. We are destined for the fresh hell of extra time as AFCW are reduced to hoofing and wildly kicking and heading aimlessly (sometimes at thin air) from about 30 yards out. Just as I'm about to pass out from exposure, the ball is threaded to Coops who this time decides to pass the ball between the various Ash defenders, rather than at them. Ryan Gray, not running down the wing this time but hovering zen master like in the box, gets the ball and taking a cue from Coops, aims not at the goalie but at a space just to the side of him. Allowing the ball to not only get past the goalie but nestle inside the goal net. Praise be! That vaseline must have finally rubbed off their boots. 1-0 to the Wimbledon in classic smash and grab away, er, fixture. Maybe. :)

curled up under the kitchen table - Thursday, 4 December 2003 at 10:57:35

Dons 1 Ash Utd 0(Surrey senior cup 2nd round)An injury time winner from Ryan Gray finally broke the stubborn resistance o a determined Ash side after the game looked destined for extra time and possibly penalties. The Dons were missing Carroll, Sheerin, Sidwell and Gibson from their regular line-up and it showed in the first half as Bolger, playing up front with Cooper, looked out of place in his new role. Both strikers missed first half chances with only the keeper to beat whilst Ash had just as many good chances at the other end as an uncharacteristically poor first half from Everard against his former team mates left Martin exposed several times and required to make several good saves to keep the scores level. After the break, the influential Calvert(he of eye-gouging fame)dropped deeper and as a result the traffic was mainly one-way towards the Ash goal.Sullivan on his return from injury was ineffective in supporting Cooper and it was only when Bolger was replaced by Scott after about an hour that the Dons began to get on top, although to be fair Copper having rounded the keeper had only to pull the ball back to Bolger for a certain goal but elected to shoot and his effort was blocked. Just as it seemed a goal would never come, Cooper's superb pull-back from the byline found Gray running into the area and his low shot from six yards out found the net to the obvious relief of the 850 crowd who had braved the cold, damp conditions. A frustrating game in total but credit must go to both sides for sticking to their guns in a relatively low-key atmosphere, the rewward fpr the Dons is a 3rd round home tie against Ryman Div 1 south side Banstead which should provide useful experience as well as hopefully more money in the coffers to pay off the ground debt.

Covies/non league fan - the comment about the black players was not racist or intended to be so. Rob - Cove 0 Dons 2. Goals from Net Bolger and the younger Dobo. One very fortuitous and the other a sublime strike from the left touchline/streaky mishit cross*. I'll leave it to you to work out which was scored by Gavin! Pitch looked like Salisbury Plain and Cove had more black players than there are in the whole of Hampshire ;-) Weather was not too bad which is more than can be said for the ref and his two assistants. Didn't hear any moans about the car parking (hardly surprising as there were only 800 people at the game and the local residents were all shopping in Camberley when we arrived! Joe got a card for kicking the ball away so may get suspended shortly but I can't remember how many bookings he's picked up so could be wrong on that score. Burgers were pretty decent (£2.50 with or without cheese/onions). All in all the best thing to say about it was that we got three more points today than Chipstead, Franchise and Millwall (who played Bradford). Have a nice day y'all ;-)

Rob, I will own up to having been soaked and cold twice last year finally giving in and persuading my bud that we would be far better off in the JS stand on Saturday. It was farkin awful view although nice to be amongst some singing again for the first time in ages. Although the choice of songs was somewhat bizzare! Many curry renditions with a sprinkling of the Carpenters and the Neighbours tune. That said I will probably think twice before coming to a cup match in future if the weather is that bad. Seeing half a match in the JS is overrated. Good luck with the new filly ;o)

Re Japan, went there too for the world cup, seemingly like many dons fans. Not as expensive as you'd think. Jap style accomodation - ryokan - under £30 a night and you'll enjoy the extras.... Prob best bet is find a tourist office and tell them what you're prepared to pay. Worked for me anyway. If you stay at a best western you might as well just go to Croydon, and you pay more for the privelege. Drinks on a par with UK (avoid tourist places - I paid £7 for a guiness in an "english" pub). Mostly c£3 a pint average in locals pubs. Scotch cheaper than UK. Food is on a par with London too - go for the fast food wagamma type restaurants, say £5 all in for starter, main course (noodles) and a beer. kiosks on most street corners sell everything from hot or cold cans of coffee to lager to gin and tonic, all at reasonable prices. Don't remember any of it being expensive. For things to see, recommend kamakura (sp?).

Rob - during the World Cup I spent 3 weeks in Japan with a hotel/food/drink/sightseeing budget of £100 a day with no problems at all. As others have said, you can spend an absolute fortune without trying, but there are plenty of reasonable places (often less than £3 a beer) around. Recommend the Lonely Planet guide as that lists a fair number of good eateries/bars, and it is much harder to judge the price on "looks" in Japan !! I can lend you my 2 year old copy if you want to check it out - let me know before Saturday and I will bring to Sutton.

Tokyo is like London or New York. It will be expensive if you go to the expensive tourist traps where they charge £7 a pint. I found at the world cup when I went that the scare stories weren't true and if you don't just go in the first bar or hotel you find there shouldn't be a problem.

Mr. REPD, "cheap and "Tokyo do not go well together. The really cheap places are orientated towards the Japaneese. They also tend to be Japaneese sized too. Shouldn't give you a problem. Be prepared to see more drunkeness than you have ever experienced.

Rob - if you still want some ideas for accomodation in Tokyo (or elsewhere in Japan) then let me know as I have a load of stuff from my World Cup trip that is useful. I stayed in a 3/4 star (Holiday Inn type standard) for around £80 a night, but that was "inflated" in price by the tournament. Maybe have a chat at Sutton on Sat ?

Rob, certainly a guy in a HW tracksuit parked his beamer in the reserved section with a "I'm the manager of the opposition" excuse. Very odd game as they looked quite good individually but appeared to be incapable of organising a coked up sodomy session in Linford Manor - must admit I could see why you were worried after 10 minutes. Something was very amiss in their camp I would guess ...

finally in the peace and quiet ... - Saturday, 8 November 2003 at 22:52:11

GD - I gather that Big Geoff (plus assistant) weren't there, as it transpires that one of the scabs down the hAE saw a new management team parking up today. I wonder if the whole thing has bollocked up HW today, they got left without their manager and perhaps the alleged ringers were left out in the cold as a result.

REPD - Can't find any mention of a Gary Peters (#5) on the Aldershot web site though (and I can't remember the names of the substitutes to look those up).

GD - cheerz for that (I now remember that your name was mentioned). Obviously such ringers didn't help HW's cause that much...

This is what happens when you attempt to fuck with the Wombles - Saturday, 8 November 2003 at 22:11:26

REPD - I was the source in the kebab shop. Interestingly - all bar one of the starting 11 were in the team list on the programme (number 5 being an exception and he scored the OG). Three of the subs weren't listed, so maybe they're the four Aldershot players.

REPD - are you going to include your "I really think this is the game we are going to lose" as one of your match report quotes ? It would provide an excellent example for those who don't believe how poor a judge of the game you are ... ;)

I am not the said Mr.Bugg. He is my uncle. I have never removed my trousers at Paddington station or pissed on a front door in Darlington though I do drink heavily and miss loads of goals by being in the bar.
